What shud be my next target
« on: August 07, 2015, 05:31:14 AM »
Was thinking of the platinum bezeled blue dialed 16622 or 116622 as my next target..

Then came the same old question.. if u already have a rolex, should you buy another rolex or should you try and feel out another brand?

i've never tried the iwc big pilot/portuguese, or the zenith el primero, or a breitling, or any of the glashutte original..

I never tried an omega speedmaster, tudor blackshield red and the cartier santos XL, but i like them too..

What do you guys think?

For me, I would continue with Rolex only because i am a serial flipper and I do not want my watch to take a very big hit when i decide to upgrade. If you buy watches to keep, then go for what you love the most on first sight/ first time you hold it and/or strap it on.
Your ONLY job in this world is to make sure that you are happy

Based on your wish list and what Gmac has adviced. I would say, go for the omega speedmaster professional. An all time classic, and an icon that has stood the test of time. And also a watch that would go well with the steel bracelet that it came with. Or if you would like some variety, can be happily switched around with a leather strap.

Hi..

If i recall correctly, you already have the green sub in your collection makes me personally think twice about buying the YM, which is indeed nice (the 116622 but i dont like the 16622, it looks pale and dull).

Like GMAC has said, if you are envisioning to flip the watch in the near future, might as well stick with Rolex.....

However, if you are like me who like to have a diverse collection, go for other brands....for instance if your budget allocation is for the 116622, at that price range, you could consider the preowned AP RO......
Other options as advised by others:
Breitling is nice, i have one of them but do get the navitimer if you want - i had buyer's remorse initially after buying the avenger seawolf blacksteel lim ed - should've bought the navitimer.

Speedmaster - i assumed you are eyeing for the moonwatch -nice, evergreen but not comparable to the 116622 as it only cost half of the 116622.

GO - i personally prefer the Lange instead if i have the money to splurge....

Happy hunting (yet again).....hahahahaa..... The poison in MwF is spreading like a disease.... HAGWE!!!

No harm buying another ROLEX model if u like it and have the budget to spend. Couple with their solid movement and latest 5 years warranty effective recently.U can also look at Grand Seiko which seems to gain popularity and with impeccable quality at a reasonable price. It shows there is a demand with additional authorized dealer appointed namely Watatime and Hang Thai Watch beside AWG watch which is the existing retailer. No doubt , buy according to your liking as it is just additional info for u to share.

I suppose the question is philosophical.. if u wannabe a true enthusiast, can u get away sticking to rolex all d way, or to be able to say u have experienced all but pref rolex..

I kinda agree w nik, but my take is;  i shud experience all first.. then only can say i pref a certain brand & why..

Yes, you can. But obviously not the chrono version..... If i am not wrong, the 116622 is in the region of rm35k++ right? I saw AP ROO selling for rm35k preowned.....

There is a saying in watch community.  If you are a rolex enthusiastic at least have a omega in your collection and vice verses.  Happy hunting
