Hi all
I hardly see vintage clocks or any clocks here for that matter. So I just want to share what I managed to find here in Amcorp Mall where I work.
This is a German made Wehrle. Looks like your regular alarm clock but it has extra functions. It has an alarm repeater and it strikes the hours. I find this really cool as I have no funds nor the space for a pendulum regulator clock/wall clock.
The levers for the alarm settings have lost its plastic tabs. The paintwork and shiny metal bits are really showing its age... but the dial still looks awesome. You can see that the minute hand has almost all of it's lume dropping off. The numbers still glow though. Amazingly... this thing is still accurate. It bongs the half hour (single chime) and the hour (no of chimes according to the hour) at within 20 secs just before the mark (was referring to a quartz Tissot).
I have no idea when it was made. A bit of research shows that there are jeweled movement versions and sapphire crystals out there but they all don't look like my example. Now I am scratching my head whether to have this thing serviced and lubed since it's already running so well. I am also very sure the movement is running dry. Also thinking how to get the hands relumed. If not... maybe cut some paper and stick to the back of the hands?
Anyway.... I give you... the Wehrle Three-In-One................
Great looking black dial. The subdial is for setting the alarm time:
This is the lever for the alarm repeater. "STEADY" means do not repeat:
You want the alarm on, set to "ALARM":
Set to "STRIKE" if you want it to chime the hours:
The back features 3 springs to wind:
Lume on the minute hand disintergrating:
