Seiko SBDC001 suddenly stop working.
« on: July 29, 2015, 01:55:00 PM »
I wore this watch for past 2 days with no problem. Suddenly today after my nap i pick up my watch and it stop ticking. I try to shake a little bit but not ticking. I unscrew the crown and try to manually wind it and still nothing. Any advice is really appreciated. Thank you.

It is very rare or perhaps I have never heard about this before, it must have been tampered before if you got it second hand.

Did you buy new? If so you can send through Thong Sia to Japan to claim for your warranty. Thong Sia may charge you for courier and handling charges.

If you buy used then too you could send through this mode.

if new, give it a few slight knocks on ur palm and see if it kickstarts.
then if it kickstarts, observe for awhile...if it stops again after awhile...then wind, redo, observe again.
its not an uncommon problem with new seikos, happens once in awhile due to over-oiling from factory.

and if doesnt kickstart, time for warranty :P

It start but only for 1 second and only after i shake it continously and it stop again. Manual wind don't have any affect. Any other advice?   :(

Just sent the watch to Thong Sia this morning. Hopefully they can fix it for free as it is still under warranty. From you guys experience, may i know if the watch will be repair here in Malaysia or will be send back to Japan as i bought it from there. Thank you.

didnt u get the answers u needed when u dropped it off?
they should have informed if warranty is valid, and if they will send back to japan / estimated time of repair.

I called them yesterday and they tell me to courier it because i live in Penang. The lady that i spoke with asked me to attached my warranty card, contact details and simple explanation about my watch problem.

thought u walked into their office...
anyway from what i've heard thongsia does not service 6r15, and will send it back to japan.
then again, seems thongsia in singapore does service 6r15...so maybe the ones here will.
but i guess best way is to wait for them to call u back with answers.

Received my watch back from Thong Sia yesterday. They repaired the watch for free and shipped back to me. Hopefully no more problem after this.

I only spoke to the admin lady i think. She said something about parts in the machine and they replaced it. When i asked what parts of the machine she didn't know how to explain.  :(

i guess there was no jobsheet included with the returned watch then.
wonder if they just threw in a new movement :P
