Hi guys! I had notice a very nice Ingersoll watches yesterday. Skeleton design we could see through the gear of small second kind looks like a tourbilion and a moonphase. How far we could use the moon phase on regular basis ? I never use in my Casio protrek. Does the moonphase is just totally decorative or maybe Edward Cullen and Werewolf need that watch badly to predict moonphase ;D

that doesnt look like a moonphase, more like a fancy 24hr indicator.
-
Its actually a day/night indicator.
-
Dual time watch with day/night indicator
-
It is neither a tourbillon nor a moonphase.
Please don't waste money on the Ingersoll.
Save up and get this instead.

;D my bad, I never have a moonphase watch before, thought it was. Yup, it neither the tourbillion. The tourbillion watch cost so much :). I like how it rotates. This Ingersoll actually has a rotating small second hand which is for me quite interesting. I not buying that watch since I notice there is no date. Still I don;t really get the utility of moonphase on regular basis. IMO not like the tachymeter and regatta widely use by a lot of people.

A regatta is widely used by alot of people?

Moonphase (& many other complications) are there not because they are required in a daily basis. They are there simply because they can. The truth is, tourbillon is in fact a yesterday solution to a near obsolete problems. In the last century, pocket watches are so inaccurate as it sit idle in the same position in the pocket for so long, and there arises the innovation to overcome the problem. It was novelty, brilliant & set apart the noble from the peasant. Today thou, watches changes position as we move our hand, and even a Seiko 5 can keep time within few seconds a day. But that doesn't stop JLC for making Gyrotourbillon, Greubel Forsey to squeeze four tourbillons into a watch. They do it because they can, thanks to technology & know-how over the years. Same story with Sidereal time, Moonphase, and allow me to say, even chronograph. And minute repeater, nobody owning one today will need it out of necessity. I don't think many people use tachymeter or regatta either. Correct me if I'm wrong. So the only reason watch connoisseurs wear watches with these complications is because of the appreciation on the mechanical excellency, the man's ingenuity & perseverance, the superiority of owning fine things and the fascination of the inner curiosity.

As mentioned, moonphase is not something that we would use for any modern practical purpose. But it is something that is fun to have. After all, having an astronomical element linked to your timepiece, gives it a special touch.
Sometimes, it has its use, like today, the waxing crescent, is already showing marks the holy month of Ramadhan, an important occasion for our Muslim friends.

What it means for the rest of us is that we can begin our countdown to Raya and getting ready to hemtam all the rendang and lauk-pauk in our friends house after Puasa is over! Yippie!
See, I found the link between gastronomy with astronomy, with horology in between :Dancing_banana: :Dancing_banana: :Dancing_banana:
p/s: Selamat Berpuasa to all our Muslim friends, Ramadhan Kareemmm!

Precisely why I like the look of the Yachtmaster 2 a lot but have no use for the function and so scrapped the idea.

be forewarned, the servicing of a complication watch; even with such a common feature, does add a a few pretty penny to the total servicing cost.
found this out the hard way unfortunately :o :D

Not a bad choice actually, an affordable version of the GO Panomatic Lunar, until one can afford the real thing.
