Title: Need advise and recommendation :)
Post by: hafiz_hector on June 30, 2013, 08:45:18 PM
Hi guys :)

Thinking of buying a metal divers style watch. The really big, heavy and bulky ones. Something like the Invicta watches but thats like waaaaayy too expensive for me.
Any recomendations out there?

Cheers!

Citizen , Seiko or some other not so popular brand in this side of the woods. Junghans, Ingersoll  etc. Shop around.

There is a store in Plaza Damas Sri Hartamas that I have seen loads of mid range watches and watches under a grand.

A couple may fit your XXL Diver criteria.

I recommend Seiko Monster, it is a classic, and very piggy bank friendly. You can go for the original monster, SKX781K1 for orange version while other color variant have different number.

Or you can also go for the new monster aka Seiko Sarlacc, with which you got a cleaner dial & better movement, at slightly higher cost. The orange version is SRP309K1 and other variant carry different number.

Or if you want something that's really unique and also retain value better (hopefully), get a Seiko SPR043K1, aka Seiko Spork. But this you need some bit of luck, as it is a hot cake & already discontinued.

Hey guys. Thanks so much for your recommendations. Today when I went to try the Invicta, the shop owner gave that "I know you can't afford so why am I wasting my time with you" look. What as a**hole. I will prove him wrong one day!!

Sometimes this "dog eye" salesperson or owner judge people based on your attire, your watch and  etc.  And maybe they don't know one thing, rich man never looks like rich man. A lot of my clients go to purchase BMW or Audi by wearing short pant and slipper, and normally those inexperience salesperson who serve everyone come in will grasp the sales. Believe me.......salesperson which serve ONLY  selected client  is not a good salesperson.

Agreed with lurch. A seiko is much better. Don't bother what the sales person, but when you feel happy and satisfy. Went to a watch shop with my friend that day with a friend of mine who bought a tag from that shop before. You know what we are just asking about the submariner and the sales lady bring out the Daytona cost rm 117k, and a few rolex. This is the kind of good altitude . At last we also didn't buy from her cos the submariner is out of stock and she is also smiling sending us out of the shop.

I can relate to your experience.. It reflects the poor customer service attitude malaysian have.
Only international brands who actually train their staff would have a good customer service attitude.
If its just some re-seller (middle man), then the owners or managers would bother teaching their staff about hot to treat customers.

Poor customer service just ruins the whole buying experience.

Just to do some clarification here:

1) Junghans price range is higher than Invicta.
2) There's no chunky diver watch under their current collection.

TS can go and look for Planet Orient
