Title: Window shopping...
Post by: sidestreaker on June 30, 2013, 01:33:45 AM
I was just strolling around Dubai mall today. There's a whole section of watch shops pretty much like the whole of Bukit Bintang area of almost all makes and brands.

Here are some of the models I really like, just to share...

This GO is just fantastic!

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/PA052843.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/PA052843.jpg.html)

Moon watch...

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/PA052837.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/PA052837.jpg.html)

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/PA052840.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/PA052840.jpg.html)

and being an IWC fan, I can't help but hanging around here a little longer...

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/P6295354_zps78099a5d.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/P6295354_zps78099a5d.jpg.html)

Managed to get a feel of the new Ingenieur watch, the 40mm automatic. Great size, and quite thin. I may consider this if I can get a fat discount from an AD... and I mean a real FAT discount....

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/P6295349_zps4841833c.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/P6295349_zps4841833c.jpg.html)

The new Chronograph Silver Arrow is just fantastic! Unfortunately, it doesn't look good on me due to its lug shape and configuration...

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/P6295350_zps97807421.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/P6295350_zps97807421.jpg.html)

and my all time favourites are the spitfire chrono and the portuguese 7 days.

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/P6295344_zps5296ac5d.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/P6295344_zps5296ac5d.jpg.html)

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/P6295351_zpsb411595d.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/P6295351_zpsb411595d.jpg.html)

Lurking around the corner of my eye is the all time iconic Big pilot....

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/P6295355_zpsc2ab822a.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/P6295355_zpsc2ab822a.jpg.html)

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/P6295346_zps403928ef.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/P6295346_zps403928ef.jpg.html)

I can't help but try it on...

(http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/vv272/sidestreaker/Timepiece/P6295357_zps71715679.jpg) (http://s691.photobucket.com/user/sidestreaker/media/Timepiece/P6295357_zps71715679.jpg.html)

It was pretty much a challenge from my wife. Even she tried it on and was expressing her interest in the big pilot.
While I was getting worried about the size and how it may look ridiculously big on my wrist, she made a good point; it's either you go all the way in being different or nothing at all.
Obviously I did not pass the mental test on this one, but I was much more comfortable with the classic SS pilot watch.
But between the 2 of us, I think she'll beat me to it if any one of us plans to get it!  8)

This GO oozes class and fine workmanship.  If only I can afford one... maybe with an Obese discount...  :P

Yep.  No offence, but you can't pull that one off.  It looks clownish.

It was almost mesmerizing, the gold index and hands with the pearl like silver dial was incredibly beautiful. There's also a Stainless Steel version with blue hands and index that carries an almost down to earth price, but I doubt it carries the impression of the rose gold as shown above.

Well, that's the whole point of window shopping...
Having said that, I would envy the boldness of someone were to wear this on the streets and be comfortable with it, even if it may look ridiculous to some. Its a general perception that borders personal taste and acceptance of things...

IMHO...if the watch lugs extends over your wrist...it will be a case of the watch wearing you instead of you wearing the watch.   :)

The GO is absolutely gorgeous. In fact...it will be tough choosing between the PanoReserve, PanoLunar and the PanoInverse.
