Mission accomplished....Even through only 3 musketeers was present…

I just recall that is a small Chinese eatery at Lucky Plaza selling Mini Buddha jump over the wall, shark fins soup, abalone and scallop set meal at quite competitive price…might be next GTG we can have our dinner there and after dinner we can explore the preown shop in Lucky Plaza likes. Brixxx Hxxr and Txp Hxxr but definitely no no to Pxxg Kxxe….

sorry gentleman…no photo for food and watches for this round as we are too busy chit chatting...  :mooning:

after dinner Terrence & Sshark bring me to E'collezione to see the Linde Wederlin watches… That shop also carry other brands likes Hautlence, HD3, Icelink and Snyper... interesting design but all look stranger to me...
Title: Re: MWF SG's GTG
Post by: takashi78 on May 05, 2010, 07:32:43 AM
Seems like that shop sells independent brands only?

Yes they sell alternative brands :)

We also wanted to drop by B&R boutique but we were 30mins too late. Next GTG we will go there 1st before we go for dinner. :)

Looks like I am the one shld apologize for giving wrong info, especially to Terence. Yes, it is a base JLC mvmt with Dubois-Depraz add on which Terence pointed out where the chrono buttons r not inline with the winding crown. so it is not a 7750 where the buttons and crown are inline.

James thanks for highlighting this. Man.. where do i get the impression it is 7750.. hmm... fakes???? :)

It is along Still Rd. We had a few places in mind but ended with this place since we (or I) wanna try the highly recommended (by Dennis) black pepper crab :)

why singaporean like to eat chili crab?

no offended, i think it wasted, i prefer just steam it with little ginger, rice wine n egg white(or little salted egg white)
that will bring out the sweetness of the crab!
Title: Re: MWF SG's GTG
Post by: sshark on June 13, 2010, 08:34:52 PM
Chilli crab is something like sweet & sour crab. I think most Malaysian prefer sweet&sour crab. I not too sure about singaporean taste bud. For steaming with ginger and wine, I would prefer "live" flower crab. For non-fresh flower crab, i would like it in curry like the mamak. Anyway, i seldom eat non fresh flower crab.
Title: Re: MWF SG's GTG
Post by: chrisyen on June 14, 2010, 08:04:34 AM
I mean steaming those green color meaty crab, like those from Malaysia mangrove, indonesia n Sri lanka...
Meaty crab must be fresh, because death one the fresh will melt n not eatable after few hours! So no one sell death meaty crab! The only different is wheter the crab is fat or skinny, big or small, with egg or not? Male or female?

So the other way is fried it light pepper n salt like seremban fu Yong Siew hai
the crab meat taste is retained

if flower crab fried with chili or curry or sweet n sour also ok.., because flower crab not much meat but it sweetness is gd for soup, gravy.... Then u can even eat the flowe crab flavoured curry, sweet n sour sauce gravy with bread/ fried bun / Mun tou...

Title: Re: MWF SG's GTG
Post by: chrisyen on June 14, 2010, 08:10:05 AM
I think I better bring u all to eat the meaty crab...
The steam one n the seremban fried!

Then u all can compare n understand what I mean!

Chris, u make me mouth watering now... i miss the Hot Soup in Serdang, Claypot Rice in Damansara, Begger Chicken at Klang, Seafood at Hulu Selangor, Claypot Lou Shu Fen at Petaling Street, Malay Rojak at Semenyih and many more...

I am regular to Coconut Flower Seafood Restaurant at Telokong, Klang when I work at KL few years back. The crabs and seafoods there is quite ok (their Marmite crab is a must try dish) but you will never go wrong with their home brew coconut wine (???) mixed with guiness stout…
Another economy catch for the flower crab is the sour sweet flower crab with mantou in the Asia café, Subang Jaya but i doubt are they still operating...

For Fu Yong Siew Hai, i still dont have the opportunity to try but according to my wifey (as she tried before) was nothing special, might be she didnt hit the correct restaurant...this thread going to become crab, crap, clap threads.... :Laughing_on_floor:

Tonight ll post up some pic with another forum GTG on last Saturday... saw some vintage watches, two tone and solid gold watches...and learn alot from those vintage die hard...

Next time u all go Klang no need to go teluk gong la. That few restaurant is for tourist one! Carey island, west port, Hainan village... also same, not for local!
But further in to teluk gong got one seafood restaurant where local or those who work nearby like to go!
The Buddha jump over wall alike soup, lala beehun... Are some signature dish!

Local ppl actually eat seafood in town n new village. Because all these old restaurants get all the fresh fish..
Yat Moon famous with xxl grouper head
Xiao tiao famous with steam Bak Chong n oyster egg
Jin ye famous with fry fish head...
Etc
all above are in towns

and in pandamaran got few new village house serve some gd seafood also
I like one recently visited by najib, he serve gd seafood curry Mee!

Correct, seremban must call mr then I'll bring u to the restaurant that is good!

Hi Peter,

Just got the answer from owners. it's a Submariner date...model 1680. The owner fitted it with a tropic 19 (non cyclops) plexi crystal for that Mini Dweller look. Please don’t think this is after market modification according to the owner Rolex did offer the above combination back in the 70s.

IT is not so much of chronograph as far as Daytona concerned. it is more of the prestige (only Rolex chronograph and most expensive calibre)  and sporty look of it.

Terrence, next round bring me the remaining Jap magazine…very useful info I got it from there…they even show u how to differentiate the authenticity of 14060...i didnt aware tat is two different wording design on the dial for 14060...ll show u next time whn we meet

IT is not so much of chronograph as far as Daytona concerned. it is more of the prestige (only Rolex chronograph and most expensive calibre)  and sporty look of it.

yeah was in THG taka yesterday to send my Sinn in.

there were a bunch of loud mainlanders...buying tons of watches. one of them have a yellow gold daytona. they were buying only gold watches.

saw on the table atleast 1 patek, 2 omega, 2 cartier...

when asked by the SA if they wanna look at Lange they said not famous enough.

so moral of the story is.......wanna do business with the mainlanders and command any street cred...get a all out blinged daytona.
Title: Re: MWF SG's GTG
Post by: dennis.T on July 09, 2010, 12:23:06 PM
my wife brought me some China watches mag during her biz trip…the mag criticize the mainlanders only "know" to buy precious metal watches (YG & RG) which can give them more classy and glam look… I wonder if you tell them a S/S Daytona 6263 selling at sgd 60k+...they will ask u go n fly kite...  :Laughing_on_floor:

I thk the SA shd bring them the VC bcos past few years VC is pretty aggressive in China, plenty of commercial adv to marketing their brand…

if i really want to get a Daytona i thk i ll go for TT black dial after all i also another sucker for precious metal... ;D

maybe but the first advert before you step out into china are giant Cartier adverts before the customs desk in Shanghai of Roadster and Ballon Bleu

so other than Omega and Rolex... a Cartier is a must for the PRCs

it's damn hard to go and look at watches with u guys...

everytime we look at any watches ...i would add another one to my list of "wanna haves" with funds so limited and choices too many...it's hard to decide.
