Title: Strap for Planet Ocean
Post by: Driller on May 23, 2013, 05:39:59 PM
Hi
I am a newbie and I hope to be able to participate and contribute in this forum. Hopefully I will not break any etiquette here.

Appreciate if anyone in the know could tell me whether AquaTerra leather straps could perfectly fit Planet Ocean?

Please PM me should any member here knows good shops in KL that sell OEM leather strap that can perfectly fit PO. I bought a leather strap on ebay for my PO the other day, which fits my PO but it does not exactly fit like the original strap (there is a very small gap between the strap and the watch body)

Much appreciate. Thanks
Driller

Welcome,

The first thing you need to know is the width of the strap that your PO takes. That is the lug to lug width of your PO. Measure to the nearest millimeter the width between the two metal parts of the watch that holds the strap - these are the lugs of your watch and you need to measure the width between them.

IIRC, the lug width of the large size Planet Ocean is 22 mm. If you have the smaller midsize PO, it could be 20 mm.

It depends on the width of the strap (the width of the strap being the end that attaches to the watch). I can't say off-hand which model straps can fit another, we go by strap/lug width. Measure your PO lug width, and you should know the width size of the strap you need.

It sounds as if you bought a strap that's too small for your watch (possibly a 20mm strap trying to fit onto a 22 mm space.) That's why it's loose.

Strap and lug width is the most basic measurement you need to know so that you can buy the correct strap to your watch.
I am sending you a PM with a few links that could help you.

Good luck and have fun.

Pretty sure what he means by that is that he got the right size of strap however it is not curved ended, thus the gap. To thread starter for curved ended straps you may want to google hirsch Medici. Otherwise your only option would be the one's by omega. However I'm not so sure if the hirsch Medici is available in Malaysia. I'm trying to look for one myself. The rubber strap from omega is about 850 and when I got mine it's still available at starhill's boutique. The catch with the rubber starp is you have to get the deployment clasp too for an extra 850. So 1700 in total. I got a cheap deployment clasp that is similar to omega's on eBay. Good luck!

Thanks to both STT1987 and Qaiyumkb.
The links given by STT1987 are useful. Thank you sir.

As mentioned by Qaiyumkb, the size of the strap is correct i.e. 20mm lug, but the end is not curved to fit it perfectly. It is quite difficult to find online leather strap with the curve end to fit PO. Now I am putting the original rubber strap back on my PO.

Thanks
