Great job for putting perspective back into the diversity of diving watch map. The all time popular Submariner & Seamaster had become so overwhelming that diver watch automatically relates to the two. But the truth is, diver watch can be subtle and classy at the same time too.
Your educational effort is greatly appreciated.

Endiku...your JLC... the spear definitely shorter...but price many times more poweeeer.... hehehe
nice to see 2 different engravings of divers with spears...wonder if any other watch has one?

JLC diver- bubbles coming out of the lungs...nice attention to details.. ;D

The Ball Skindiver has a nicely done diver but he has no spear.....peaceful fellow, and maybe a vegetarian... ;D

I see. I still think that the internal bezel + that extra large crystal give that bigger illusion.
Still breath generous amount of elegance. ;)

I wonder why do Ball place the waves beneath him? he look more like an astronaut. ;D

And yes, there was a date version as well. Although the design is not the same as the current reissue date version. This version was suppose to be Longines attempt at becoming a supplier to the RAN (Royal Australian Navy) but lost to Droz 2 diver.

FYI....
It is still unconfirmed if the LLD no date is still in production or has been discontinued. It is no longer reflected in the Longines Website. Anyway, for those looking for one, may want to try and check under the following model number:
New Model reference: L3.674.4.56.3
The original reissue has the following reference: L3.672.4.56.2
The change in the reference was due to a change in the supplier for a part of the case used for the LLD.
I suspect the change could be the internal rotating bezel as the later LLD (no date) internal rotating bezel index markings is more aligned to the dial markers as compared to the earlier models.
Additionally, the current date models of the LLD has the extra 30 bar (300 meter) on the dial (below the Automatic). I suspect this is to align the date model to the RAN model.
-
My mistake, there are 3 different reference number for the watch....
L3.674.4.56.0
L3.674.4.56.2
L3.674.4.56.3
Emmmmmmmm.......
-

I am not sure where you got these numbers. If I remember correctly the last number tells the strap the wwatch is equipped with. 56 means the dial is black. 4 means stainless steel case. L3 tells you this watch is grouped under the hydro / admiral line.

harkensng,
Thanks for the info. However the lld is only available with the 'sail cloth' type strap, yet the last number has changed from 0 to 2 and then 3 over its short life span.
Additionally, from my understanding the jury is still out on the Longines numbering system. For example the number 5X denotes black dial, but the X can be anything between 0 to 9 dependent on the dial design, i.e. date window, chrono, etc.
I suspect the numbering system is not that simple.

Good info especially the historic LLDs

Wonder if the crown on the original diver has similar mesh-like pattern?

Photos taken from the internet without shame... lol
Check out the thickness of the plexiglass on the vintage model.
But all in all, the LLD is one the of best value reissue.

It is good to know that I am not alone in fandom of the Longines Legend Diver. A classic compressor style diving watch. Mine is not the LLD no-date, rather I need the date complication in the office.
It seems that one of the first things most WIS do is to get rid of the original Longines rubbery/nylon strap with a third party strap. In this case, a Hirsch nature line leather strap (yes, leather strap on a diver - blasphemy!).
Obligatory spear chucking diver shot.
The LLD looks larger on the wrist due because it does not have an external bezel. It basically has an "all-dial" look.
A comparison between the 42mm case size LLD with the 47mm case size Breitling Chronomat GMT. Note, that the dial is basically the same size despite the disparity in case size.
Need to have more pics of the LLD here.

Nice one STT1987
One way to utilise the internal bezel, use it as 'pointer date' ;D
In this case, 7th of the month :Laughing_on_floor:

Hmmm.... STT and CK,
Both of u seems to have the leather strap with the stitching near the lugs going outwards.
It looks like it's rubbing against the lugs.
Does it hold? Or does the thread starts thinning?

Mine ok, will post the latest picture once my LLD is back from Swatch.

Mine is okay so far, but yes - the wraparound stitching style rubs against the lugs and after heavy wearing, will fray. It hasn't happened (yet) to the LLD pictured here but it has happened to another similar styled Hirshch strap on a different watch (a Fortis). When this happens, I will probably do my own home style repair job and restitch the strap myself. Looks simple (so says the neophyte beginner), as the stitching is very large....
So the answer to your question is yes, it will fray sooner or later as it rubs against the lugs.
The price for looking nice I guess.

Cool....
Mine has the reference L3.674.4.56.0 and I know that CK and Pexus LLD has the reference L3.674.4.56.3. Looks like a LLD GTG would be a good idea to place the 3 references side by side and see if we can spot the difference....

With only 1800 units worldwide and there are at least five in this forum, that's not bad at all.
The matter of fact is, before this thread, I never really knew the Legend Diver at all. That show how knobby I am. :-[
-
hi,
I bought the no date version with out even knowing the existence of this watch..i was hunting for longines conquest, my wife dislike the conquest and she pointed to me the LLD with date in the same displays at shops..
first look and fell in love.. got back to home and do some net reading and found out there is a a no date version.. but hardly can find one..
luckily after waiting and looking for nearly two months.. but I must say everyday I did searched the online sales.. then saw one brand new
so I was lucky lah..

a low profile re-issue. I first gotta know this watch when ck77 was hunting high and low for one. Then the poisoning began...
-
Stunning classic look!
Ahh, the poison.....

Just handled the LLD at the AD. It really is a great looking watch! Price seems pretty reasonable too! Question is...do I need another watch? Hmmm.
-
Hi Yikkie,
Mind to PM which AD still have this in stock? Tq

So funny that you all love the rarer no-date version whereas I avoided it, and bought the date version instead!
:Laughing_on_floor:
Ah well, no regrets. I prefer a date complication on my watches. What's important that we all love what we wear.
-
Love to buy a LLD no date used. Any seller, pls PM me :D

I know the no-date version is no longer in production, but does anyone know which dealer in Malaysia has it? (preferably in Klang valley region) Been searching high and low all over shopping malls and ADs in subang but no luck :(

Wow Tyler... you wear the watch with the original strap and got it wet?
I am guessing the strap is gone liao.
I have no complaints on this watch... except the strap that it comes with... laughably lightweight...

God the no date version looks so gorgeous!
Looks like I have no choice but to get the date version only seeing that I'm unable to find the no date version.
Could any of you sifus share which dealers in Klang Valley give good discounts? Most discount I got so far was (removed) at Pyramid... preferably more than (removed) discount, I'm only a 19 year old with small budget.
Strictly no discussion on discounts. Kindly use PM. Thank you
-
wow...more LLD fans coming out....
gorgeous pics by everyone....
yeah Tyler, did the original strap perform well after the dip
imsilly, it depends on whether you can wait...preloved non date version does appear now and then...
But then again, a bnib LLD with date is not an inferior piece ...It depends if you value `rare' more than a useful date window. all the best!
-
I've been eyeing the Legend Diver for quite some time already. Was deciding on either a preowned Speedy Pro or a new LLD, but quite sure I want the LLD now after seeing this thread.
Somehow the date version doesn't have the clean, neat look which the no date has. It's that small detail that is making me think twice before purchasing it.

The original strap is supposed to be waterproof. It'll be kind of weird for the LLD to come with a non-waterproof strap, won't it? After all, it is a dive watch.
-
Not necessarily for some strange reasons, for example i believe JLC tribute to deepsea has a leather strap???

Thanks guys!:)
Didn't really like the original strap which came with it so took it out; was planning on selling em since they were new but ck77 said new ones cost less than rm200 so reluctant to sell mine now.
Got this leather nato from a Malaysian online watch store. Does anyone know where I can get natos in normal retail stores?

ck,
what is the lug size and the other end size?
I ask coz I'm looking for a sail cloth strap.
If the size of both ends fit, I wan to get it for some of my sports watches..
Can I just order it from Swatch directly at Wisma goldhill?
Thanks
And bought a pair of original LLD strap for a good friend,

Any LLD users here? Everytime my LLD dies, I have no clue to which way to wind the watch. Is it clockwise or anticlockwise? When I roate it clockwise the crown doesn't feel smooth compared when I wind it anticlockwise.
Am I suppose to push the crown in while winding it clockwise/anticlockwise? And then how do I screw the crown back in?
The instructions aren't really clear :/

Unscrew the crown anticlockwise and wind it clockwise.
You will of course feel some resistance.
Only pull the crown if you need to set time or date.
After winding about 30 turns, if the watch doesn't start, just give it a little shake.
Push the crown in and turn it clockwise to screw it back.

Somehow from this angle i feel the strap is too thick for the watch.

looks cool on with the strap !
but some how i find the watch are too small and thin for thick strap (pam alike), even on my leather zulu ... :-\
-
Personally the watch should come with a thicker sail cloth strap or a rubber strap. But since I don't swim (was told I float pretty well), wearing it with a leather strap is ok by me. It is not that thick actually the strap. Does not help that the old has thin lugs.

Calling all new spear-divers to share their new love...
;D
-
Wow... the poison is strong in here :D
Picked up my LLD yesterday evening. It was admittedly a super impulse buy. I literally had the urge after lunch after browsing through some pics on Instagram. Called up some contacts. Whatsapp'd some MWF folks. Skipped work early to swing by my AD to nego, nego, nego... and they finally gave me an attractive price.

Didn't expect the presentation box to be so large and heavy. Now... any recommendation to where I can get some nice leather straps? I would like to swap it within the week, so that I can bring it along for my beach vacay in Boracay next week :Praying:
-
i am using a strap from cheer giant. good value for money.
-
Greets!
So, just a quick update. I changed from the standard strap...
...to a coal horween...
...but found that a tan horween suited the LLD best...

And here's what I noticed earlier today; the inner bezel rotates by itself!?
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/1381746_713186045130_3898735039849328237_n.jpg?oh=1f26518a1b77e9647d2aec689400d64c&oe=54EC38FE&__gda__=1420658983_4e5894e0d1ffc53debfdd0d1ec789734)
Just wanted to quickly check to see if anyone else is facing this problem. I've basically screwed the crown down properly, but after continuous wear of a few days, I noticed the bezel had moved ever so slightly! In fact, if you look at the last two pics I posted (5th Oct - 21st Oct), you'll see just how much the bezel has 'moved'.
-
Hello,
I think I can swear mine also the inner bezel moved once.
I thought I didn't screw screw the crown properly, but I think I did
-
Yes! I checked, and double checked when I noticed, and can confirm that the crown has been screwed in properly. I literally had to unscrew, realign, then lock the crown in place again. Will keep on monitoring. This is the second time it has happened to me; so I'll definitely keep an eye out.
Anyone else also facing this on their LLDs?
