Hi All,
I'm really enjoying reading the forum. I'm returning to KL later this year and am wondering whether to wear my Rolex two tone blue sub (my first really good watch). Not really planning on going out all that much but am a little worried that the watch may stand out esp with the gold - I'd be less concerned if it was an SS sub.
Do you wear your high-end watches when you go out in KL?
Thanks,
Gerry

Hi!
I believe if a gold piece will be on the 'outstanding' level.
Perhaps will be a bit dangerous then.
This is my opinion.

Just like any big cities, it depends on where you hang out. Certain part of KL should be OK but some may not. But then wearing a gold Rolex around may not be the smartest thing to do. Depending on your perspective (of whether good or bad), Rolex is too recognizeable. I would think wearing any other brands will be OK provided it is not too bling (glaring gold or diamonds). If you want to be absolutely safe, wear an Alain Silberstein! :Dancing_banana:

Yeah, I think you're right. Maybe it's time to get a black monster :D

Wherever u r, watch u r back and be alert. The robber might not be eyeing ur watch. They rob your of ur money and take ur watch (even cheap watches) along the way. IMO, there is nothing to lose and more to gain from their perspective.

But then, some of them may not want to take a watch that seems to be bought from Toy 'r us :Laughing_on_floor:

exactly. worse if the robber not aware is an expensive watch and get it 'lelong'

There is an interesting real incident that I was informed. A watch collector's house was broken in and the thief stole all the luxury watches (PP, Lange, etc.) The only watches he didn't take with him were the Alain Siberstein watches (including the AS Tourbillon D'Art)! :Laughing_on_floor:

Looks like u really fascinated with AS brand eh...haha
But Gerry,
For overseas trip i normally just bring along my cheapest watch.
Of course in your case i think gold is not a good idea.

hehehe. True. I was at Hour Glass Pavillion and nearly pulled the trigger on an AS but just realized that I have not paid my credit card bill which include the charges on the AP and Cartier! So next quarter then :Praying:

i wondered if they will steal a Ben Ten watch i find it kinda cool design :Laughing_on_floor: ???

Yeah, I've heard some horror stories about people carrying RM50 just so they have something to give the robbers. They get violent if they come away with nothing. Something tells me I'm going to be wearing my Titanium Fossil :D or maybe buy an Alain Siberstein :Laughing_on_floor:

i wear too shabbily to have anyone consider my "accessories" are of any real or genuine.
also not to mention the amount of tattoos i have and the propensity of me wearing tank tops with jeans..makes a good deterent :Laughing_on_floor:
a trick i find useful in warding off would be credit card peddlars, donation seekers, sales person from coming close. cause i dress like an ah beng :Dancing_banana:

i think safetly in KL is pretty much okay. it;s jsut how you carry yourself.
i've travelled around alot and the only places that i get the jitters are Paris and any Italian city.
I rent a place a stone throw away from Petaling St and i love every minute of it. i would walk arounf KL any hour of the day/nite and i feel throughly safe. Maybe it;s because i do not have much to lose last time :Laughing_on_floor:
