Title: TISSOT COUTURIER - New ETAC01.211 movement. Any comment?
Post by: armereth on March 13, 2010, 09:10:28 PM
Hi

Was at One Utama today lurking.

Saw this Tissot COUTURIER black and orange design and love it. Was quoted sub Rm2000 for a Automatic Chrono!! The sales guy doesnt know what movement it is using but not bad I think. So came back to google and found out that the almost exact same model (design wise) has two movement. One is Valjoux 7750 (T035.614.16.051.01) and another is the new ETAC01.211. (T035.627.16.051.01). Surprise to see such practice.

The one with ETA

Btw, thought 7750 is day date.

Anyway do you guys now anything about the  ETAC01.211 movement? Seems like it is new movement and Tissot is the first Co to apply them.

Thanks

Yes this is the cheaper chorno developed by ETA. These movement is used in Tissot and Swatch to capture the entry level chorno market.

This movement is partly based on the lemania 5100.

Thanks. Manage to read about in after i posted. Some guys on the new are complaining about plastics component in it effecting accurcay. But to me, don't think is an issue.

Anyway, I think this is good deal. Think things is going go get a lot more interesting from now on with this cheap auto chrono movement. Maybe other Swatch brand will have their "low end" model already. Entry level Omega perhaps.  :D

If you don't mind plastic, Swatch with same movement start from RM1290  :Dancing_banana:

Errr... i do mind plastic. The Tissot felt solid in my hand. I was actually comparing it with Tissot Le Locle square which is few hundred more.

Anyway, still too early. Perhaps come June/July i will go for it. Must get rid of my Raymond Weil first. Sigh still no taker.

I have handled this watch recently, quite like the case design and dial set up.
Yes, it is now closer to RM3k.
