Have you browsed a local watch shop chain that specialises in German and Russian watches? They have outlets in 1-Utama, Tropicana City and Pavillion. Quite a few brands there that might suit your budget. Good Luck!  :Jumping:

Stowa is great too. It's available only through mail order though unless you want to go to Germany.

Stowa has to be one of the options.....coz i've got a Antea 390 incoming myself ;D

having owned a Steinhart (just sold it), and having not seen an actual Stowa live, i'd say based on pictures and hearsay, the stowa trumps the Steinhart in quality as the Steinhart pilot i had had uneven lume applied and less refined brushing patterns on the case so if you have the budget, go for the Stowa!

For your budget of RM 1-3K, those 'German' watches come with Swiss ETA ebauches….

For a true German watch with German in-house movements, you are looking at only a handful of brands e.g. Lange, Glashutte, Nomos, Lang & Heyne, Dorneblueth, etc  whose cost starts at minimum base five figures.

Go for Sinn, their cases have a patented technology that excludes air from inside the case. makes the oil last longer. Although it is an ETA movement, they changed the escapement to DLC coated types which personally, i have seen requires no oil and zero maintainence on the balance and escapement which is the most important part of the watch.

Stowa comes to mind... I like Stowas, though not enough to buy one new.

Yes you are right I have the same experience with Steinhart Ocean Black, the DLC peeling off and the lume not even. The bright side is the watch is very affordable

Stowa will definitely be a good choice. Here's my Stowa Marine Original Series. Very well made and finished considering the price point.

Xxx Watch in 1utama, Tropicana Mall or Pavvillion. They carry some affordable german brands such Zepellin and Junkers. You might just opt for a Russian watch while youre there though...

U1 for the looks.

Damasko gets my vote for a tough German watch.

But yeah that time even they have not much stock.

I live in the southern part of Germany - Bavaria - and near the Alp-Mountains.

Posts in the German-watch-forum: more than 5.000
Watches: more than 100

What I want to suggest is having a close look at "MARCELLO C."
=>
http://www.marcelloc.de/de/kollektionen.html

That small enterprise has an excellent (!) reputation among
watch collectors over here and it offers exquisite watches
at a very reasonable price!
=>
http://www.google.de/search?hl=de&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1280&bih=629&q=marcello+c&oq=marcello+c&gs_l=img.3..0l10.1673.4301.0.4524.10.9.0.1.1.0.168.1168.0j9.9.0...0.0...1ac.1.9.img.I7AAbXDrpmw

... a remark concerning "Steinhart":
He has (!) his watches being put together "somewhere" and then only sells them.
There are many complaints over and over again, those watches
arrive at the buyers having deficits or some defects ... maybe otherwise
he would not be able to get and sell them that low priced?
One may suppose nobody inspects those watches at all before they are shipped.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

But my favourite watches are all from  (Swiss)  OMEGA anyway!  :thumbsup:

Regards,
BB

Thank you very much, 1to12!

I found this forum, because I have a watch-friend
who lives in Melaka and whom I could help to get
a personalised watch (an UNITAS-Kemmner) with his initials on
and  made to his own spefications.

Just see my "Bouvier No. IV - Stowa-Marine-Not-Original" !! :-)))
=>
(scroll a bit up to see the photos...a "Kemmner" too...)

You know,  I always say, that I am living just there,
where all the Japanese tourists come, to take some photos, *gg*

That is just some 50 miles from where I live ... was built by the
last Bavarian king about 1880 and everybody said, he were totally mad.
And nearby then, of course, there is the "Munic-Oktoberfest" too!

As to watches, we think, ARCHIMEDE offers a nice collection
... great quality for rather little money.
Here is one of the latest I bought..Model "Klassik"

"Schneeglöckchen" =  "Tiny Snow-jinglebell" => the flower (english:) "Snowdrop",
which is the first flower in spring  ...  even if there is still some snow .... :
