just to share another real story....
during CNY, my fren was approached by his fren for a pam... so he called to ask me whether worth buying....
below is our conversation over the phone regarding this watch
he : my fren who use to deal with me on other business offer me a pam, 44mm titanium case, handwind, rm9.5k! worth buying
me : any 44mm pam below rm10k is a bargain... grab it!but which model? box n paper?
he : no box n paper he do not know what model!
me : alot of fake beware.... got photo?
he : mms u now..... fren said it has been verified genuine by the watch repair shop T** in amcorp!
me : the photo shown a marina militare dial... which is very rare... r u sure is rm9.5k? n is it real.... got movement photo?
he: mms u movement photo now.....
me: as far as i know 44mm titanium luminor marina militare is pam 036 or 086.... both is super rare..... but no black dial.... n is vendome model so is t
dial.... so i suspect this is fake.... the movement is genuine eta6497.... but not sure is pam movement!
he : watch shop said real one leh..
me : watch shop can only verify the movement is swiss or not.... not sure a local watchmaker can verify the real pam... take the watch n show me
1st before paying can? or send me case back n overall movement photo...
he : the movement look real to me..... case is difficult to judge
me : the movement look fake to me.... i've seen same fake movement few yrs ago... it is a eta6497 for sure, but a taiwanese has engrave the 'panerai panerai panerai...' on st steel plate n stick it on the movement bridges n balance cock.... n it is not easy to find out.... take a 10x magnifying loupe n check the balance cock from side.... if it is stick on... u can see the join area....
the next day
he : thanks fren, i saw the join.... the movement finishing plate looks like just stick on the original eta6497 like u said....
me : welcome.... i found another thing missing... the original pam36 movement has gold chaton/or gold plated on the 3 biggest jewels setting area...
he : thank god... my fren been conned as well.... but hope he can get back his cash!

wow, this is scary :o
Is there any place one can bring the pre-owned Pam to verify here like RSC? Richemont Group?

Yes, you can bring it back to Richemont Service Center located in Menara HLA... but i doubt they can verify those vintage or pre-V model too..
if i remember correctly, the pre-v model is not using eta6497..
Pre-V should have T-dial i thought? but the pic above look good, hard to tell if it's real or fake.. anywhere, if a real pre-V for 9.5K, it's too good to be true ;)

yes... beware if offer is too gd.... who dont want to sell higher?

yes..when it's too good to be true...one better be very cautious...luckily your friend didn't buy it.

I really hate things like that going on under our noses, the fraudsters/imposters out there must take the Malaysian Watch frat a bunch of fools. Yen your friend and his friend whom got deceived (esp the one paying money) CAN and SURELY should report the original seller. And seek compensation for not only recovering his paid price but also compensation on top. Let the fraudsters out there get a deterrent message.
But one wise man once told me if you think its a darned good deal it never is...
Cheers and more CNY cheers.

But then again, the one selling might not know it's fake... So, if buy used pieces better do more homework first ;) personally, I kane at least 2 times when I was in UK :(

The letter A in the word Panerai on the face is a dead give away that its a fake. Somehow the fakes have low center horizontal lines on the letter A vs. the originals.
