hi everyone,
Following the Grand Seiko gathering where I must apologise for not giving enough notice and hence a few GS enthusiasts were not able to make it, I would now like to propose a JLC themed gathering where anyone interested in JLCs are welcomed to join and JLC owners can share their favourite pieces.
As CNY is in Feb and some members would be travellling out of KL for a week before and up to 2 weeks after CNY, a more workable date would be in March
In order to reassure members to bring their precious pieces, it would be better held in a private room in a restaurant located in a complex. Any suggestions are welcomed but the location would only be informed to confirmed participants.
One of the places I have in mind can only cater to abt 8-10 people as it is in a Jap restaurant with only 2 individual rooms in a complex. They have set lunch/dinner bentos costing abt RM 80++ per head.
Would like to gauge how many people are interested in such a gathering before proceeding to the next stage of making a booking and for the numbers of people. A maximum number of people may have to be imposed in the rare event the response is too good.
To make it workable and successful, perhaps once the max number is met, it wiil be closed at least 2 weeks before the event.
Suggestions are sought on the following:
2 Saturday dates in March.
Locations with private rooms in a shopping/commercial complex.
Lunch or dinner
Final decisions will be made on a majority basis
It is hoped that other WIS would also organise their favourite brand gatherings. I would love to attend some where I have yet to own such a brand.

Hi everyone,
since we have an enquiry on the gathering, may I propose either Saturdays March 9th or 16th as the tentative dates to be voted upon. May I suggest lunch and time set at 12.30pm.
(We shall leave March 23rd open as it has been proposed for a 'miao miao' watch and makan trip...)
The date with most votes will be selected.
As mentioned in the original post above, anyone who is interested in the brand is most welcome to join and JLC owners are encouraged to bring their JLCs to share their information on the brand as well as their respective watches.

Cost: Will select a menu below RM 100 per head depending on venue
In order to make an advance booking and finalise available venue, kindly indicate your ONE preferred date between the 2 Saturdays below. Even if you have no preference, kindly put your name down on ONE of the dates. The date with the highest number of names will be selected.

To-date we have 6 participants, including myself.
If there are no last minute pullouts, we should still be able to proceed with this small intimate gathering.
As the majority have chosen March 16th, the closing date will be 1st March 2013, after which I will make arrangements to contact a few venues for booking and inform those confirmed via pm.

I can't commit on the date until a few days before. I do have a reason to come to KL for one night but it's not for a JLC.. ;) ;)
As CNY is about to end, site work will be picking up and might get too hectic for me to leave.

Dear all,
An update on this event.
Due to several parameters having to be met as follows:
Pork free as we may have muslim participants
Near to Starhill and Jln Bkt Bintang in order to go watch window shopping thereafter
Secure location in a multi level complex
Private room
Availability on March 16th lunch 12-4pm
I can only locate 2 restaurants to-date however maximum seating for the room is only 12 so we may have to limit our participation to 12 only.
If anyone here can suggest any other restaurant fitting the above requirements and able to take on more people, please pm me.

We need a minimum of 10 to book either room at the shortlisted 2 restaurants. I suppose they might accept 9, the current final numbers..

I will be booking the private room tomorrow and trying to get info on their set menus.
As the gathering is small, it should be manageable.

Glad to inform that everyone has reverted and we have a final turnout of 8 for lunch.
As the private room can take up to 12, there is still space for 4 more pax. If anyone is still keen to join, kindly pm me.
Looking forward to a diverse range of JLCs to be showcased for attendees to view and discuss at leisure.

This afternoon 8 (a very 'fatt' number) JLC enthusiasts gathered at a Japanese restaurant to share their collection of various JLCs.
We had so much fun that we were there from 12.30 till 3.30pm and we then adjourned to guess where..? ;)
JLC Boutique Starhill of course. Spent another 1.5 hours there being shown the SIHH 2013 prototypes by the boutique manager as they will be sent on to the next JLC boutique in another country tomorrow.
One participant who is not yet a JLC owner was poisoned and spent a lot of time drooling over a gorgeous dual face Reverso prototype..was thinking of whether to put down a deposit for it…guess who….. ;D
Thanks to all present in making this gathering very successful. We shared information on each other's pieces, tried out each other alarms, complications. :Dancing_banana: :Jumping:
Everyone brought a different model except 2 participants who each had the Reverso 1931, such was the diversity of JLC. :thumbsup:
Some of the collectors are well travelled and have accumulated some iconic pieces from all over Europe.. Tyler was the envy of all as he has the most number of iconic pieces… :HammerHead:
A big thank you guysss for the support and great camaderie this afternoon.. the afternoon belonged to each and everyone of you... :Cheers:

Never have i seen so many alarm watches in one setting.
Besides a Vulcain event few years back.
Tyler continues to surprise me with all the great pieces he has. Real eye opener.

The boutique visit was one of the best i had. Shows how many VVIP we have :Dancing_banana:
Honestly though, dont know if it was the environment or music playing in the background. The Reverso minute repeater was kinda disappointing.
But not nearly as bad as the Frank Villa i heard before.

Ya ya, I was the one without a JLC... yet. ;D But it won't be long with all the poison I received today. Really beh tahan liao with all the great pieces brought in by Tyler, Joseph, Derick, Foong (Fong?), etc..
A visit to the JLC boutique was a double poison. Vast display of master pieces & sweet sales lady. No wonder so many of our friends fall prey to this brand. ;D

wah thanks Chris for your vote of confidence but really I think all the moderators have done a very good job.
I can only contribute in small ways like organising gtg for my fav brands.
I really hope others will start doing so as well.
I'd like to learn & experience several other brands besides my fav 3.

Wat u talking la..When you sell your Daytona and ExplorerII plus don't know how many other watches, you can easily buy a JLC.
Sumore you were considering PP at 1 time. What is JLC compared to PP.. you are more atas than us laa. :HammerHead:

Is not about the amount... you guys knowledge on movements etc is fantastic.
I only know Rolex and PP/AP ie. brand name only. Much to learn.
BTW, Kuching seafood on 23/3 still on kah??
