It looks like 2013 will be an indecisive year :-\
What are your thoughts on these watches?

The movement is by FP and it's 21,600 vph with a vertical clutch is about all I have found so far. I'm warming up to the bezel and bracelet design.
It would be nice to hear what members think about this.

hi donald,
I've many times in the past nearly pulled the trigger on a VC Patrimony or a VC Overseas either with a JLC or FP movement.
VCs are known for their slightly finer finishing compared to a GP or a JLC… I would a rate the VC to be equivalent to an AP/PP in finishing.
However they are not very popular in Malaysia and have very poor resale value.
Does your SP shop in Kuching have any mint pre-owned ones? Might be tempted to go over and have a look provided the prices are not marked up.
They dun fetch anywhere close to PP,AP, Rolex resale values.
-
I like them for few reason.
1. They are a bargain compare to RO Chrono, poor resale value mean great bargain for used watch deal.
2. Under the radar. Almost everyone recognize a RO or a Nautilus.
3. The date look more balance on the dial than the AP and PP equivalent.
The would pick the dark dial thou.

Tyler

Resale is poor but i'm sure you'll enjoy the watch when you put it on your wrist. I did. The bracelet is very well made and it's not a heavy watch (very balanced).

I am always curious if the Overseas Chrono movement is fully integrated chronograph (eg 7750 and 1861) or it just a base movement attracted to chrono module ala DD module?
-
VC Overseas Chrono is a FP integrated chrono....correct me if my info is incorrect.

it's an intergrated chrono. same movement as the AP ROC and Blancpain.
Correct me if I am wrong, it's the same F.Piguet movement as in Blancpain Leman Chronos minus their famous flyback function.
Where as the newer BP chronos places the big date at 6 o'clock, VC has theirs at 12.
Different cases, different names, same calibres, but such vast different resale values..between these 3

If not mistaken the AP ROC is based on 3120 caliber with DD module attached? ???

There's a difference between a AP ROC and a AP ROO

I actually nearly bought overseas dual time last year. This close I must say. The dial is superb and the barcelet is very distinctive. As nice as APRO barcelet if not better.
However, I didnt pull the trigger and eventually decided to get APROO instead due to the following reasons.
1. VC market positioning, especially in Asia, has been declining. PP has obviously gained a better market positioning and more prestigious than VC these days, indeed even AP is kind of more prestigious than VC in a lot of collectors' opinion.
2. VC's resell value, especially overseas and most basic models are extremely low. My sale here told me his customer who wanted to sell this VC overseas chrono was offered a 30% of his purchase price after a year. lol. but dont tell me you wanna get that. Its not easy to find one as not many people buy VC and even fewer people sell their VC.
3. For me to pay more than rm50k, inhouse movement is a must. I dont really care if the watch is say 20k or below. But for this kind of money, I preferred to get some exclusive movement.
4. I was told that new overseas will be launched in 2013. So still hoping that they may introduce inhouse movement for overseas. Also, i dont like to get outdated model unless they are collectible.
5. Last but not least, VC is still doing relatively good in formal or dressic watch but not their sport watch.
So, I didnt buy last year. However, I may change my mind later since I already have both PP and AP. So i may reconsider VC again especially when the new model is out.

In terms of finishing, I have no doubt that it is well-finished. How about service of the watch? I am warming towards the VC Overseas Chrono to round up my trinity.
-
i surely missed mine.
prepare to take a small beating when selling.

stunning

Wish I can find an owner with a white dial and ready to take a beating....
-
I think these are absolutely beautiful watches, they just glow and sparkle. I prefer the three handers but, if you're a chrono guy, you could do a lot worse.
-
Between the Trinity, VC was the one that I first warmed up to. Still like it but haven't bought one... nor any of the other 2 Trinity. I do think a pre-loved VC is value for money.
-
There's one version that's quite pleasing.
Let me see if I can find a picture of that. ;)

Yes, US Boutique edition reference number 49150/000A-9337
