I have a Tag 4000 series. Love it to death but only regret was i bought it as a quartz model and not mechanical.
I know they have the mechanical version.
Was thinking to switch out the quartz module to a mechanical.
Think its possible?
Anyone done it before?

you'll probably run into 2 issues.
thickness of the auto movement, and diff position of the date window.

I think date window should be ok since from the net i see the position seems the same.
But did not think bout the thickness of the case issue.

Glampyre is right. The thickness is an issue. Then you'll have to check if the existing hands will work / can be installed onto the mechanical movement. Likewise, the "feet" of the existing dial may not fit into the mechanical movement. All these will need to be checked, I am afraid before one contemplates changing a movement.

Looks like more things to consider, will do some research on this.
I think main hurdle is the thickness of the case, mine is pretty thin.
Oh things you think of when one stares at his half empty watch case.....

Just to provide some visual of what I meant by the feet of the movement dial. Picture is not mine.
The positions of the pits (into which the feet of a dial will insert) usually differ from one movement to another. I believe I mentioned before that the positions are different even for say a Rolex 1675 GMT and the later Rolex 16750 GMT. So it is quite possible that the feet of your present dial may not fit into the new mechanical movement.....

I hear ya on the dial feet....my Tag has developed such a nice patina on the tritium its just a waste that its quartz hehe.

If the dial already has a nice patina, I'll keep it as it is if I were you..... :thumbsup: for the history and shows lots of character.

Nothing wrong with a quartz.... grab and go... everyone should have one.
But if you do go with it... I bid you good luck.
Not something that I will try given my zero hands on knowledge... hehehe

Where got so easy to change a movement just like that
The hands won't be fit
The dial won't be fit
The case same? The movement ring sure different...
N who wants to do this for u? At what cost?
How much it cost? Worth it?
