hi brothers,
Need your guidance, Which is better if to compare omega smp 212.30.41.20.01.002 and longines non date legend diver?
Price wise between those are not that much around rm1.4 k, one being new other is preloved.
What is your opinion? Kinda need urgent advice and hope these two watches are not being taken by others hehe
Thank you!
-
Which one sings to you more? The only you have to satisfy is yourself.
Comparison apple and orange. One in house movement, the other ETA (well sort of in house), black dial vs brown dial, normal diver case with external bezel vs compressor case (internal rotating bezel), new vs pre-loved, still in production vs no longer in production, Brushed finished vs polished finish, great lume vs poor lume, metal bracelet vs strap, mdate vs no date and the list goes on.....
Both iconic watches....
Oh yeah, if you are particular about alignment, like bezel markings, the lld may not be the watch for you.

Modern vs Retro
What do u have now? That would give u a better picture.

Hi there,
Thnks for the inputs. Frankly i like both hahahah seriously, both watches are like love at first sight
Of course i saw smp first then lld.
My home affairs minister prefers the lld since it looks different than my other wathces,
Errr but i dont have much serious collection, now i have speedy pro, seiko sarz035, and dress wtch like emporio armani, guy laroche and cerruti.
Thanks

I would pick the LLD for the reason of variety. There isn't much to choose from other brand when it comes to the LLD. Other retro/tribute sell way more than a LLD and most of them aren't even that nice.
The SMP however being a modern dive watch. You can easily find substitute. Since you have a speedy in your collection why not wait a bit before adding another Omega.
I have both watch (well ... the smp has since been stolen) I find the LLD possess more character than the SMP. Not that the SMP is a bad watch. It's just that the LLD has more funk than the SMP

Yeah I agree.
LLD is one hell of a good looking watch.
I suggest getting a more thicker strap for it as the original strap that comes with the LLD is kind of lightweight.

Thanks tyler and sorry to hear about the stolen smp.
Yeah, frankly today i was on the net finding info on this LLD. Here in jpan, ballpark price for new LLD yen 231,000.
But i dont know the brand new price in Malaysia, to make comparison, can someone give me hint?
Because the preloved one nondate is not tht cheap considering its seconhand item in jpan.
This is the only reason i am still hesitating to go to the shop and of course, its been raining the whole day today!
Its true the smp is easily available and lld is quite rare on nondate version.
On the movement of these watches, both are comparable in quality and durabality?
And also i found 3 differents dials on LLD:
- Nondate with automatic inscription
- date with automatic inscription only
- date with automatic and 30 bar inscripition.
Is there any reason behind this?
Thanks
-

Yeah hanz,
Thanks for suggestion on the straps, will do after getting the watch

RRP for the date and non-date is the same at rm6800.

Wow, that rm6800 i believe bfore discount. So price in japan damn expensive lah. Hmmmm
Any one selling preloved? Better buy in Malaysia i guess

Not that easy to find. The LLD is not a rare watch but is one watch that really love by its owner for sure.
6k is the list price last time when it was introduce.
I would rather find one with all the box & paper and pay abit more than a really good price but lacking this and that.
The movement is nothing to shout about and a reliable one for sure.
I have a friend love it so much that he bought a second one!

The model with date is dime a dozen and still being produced.
The non date one is rare... and now discontinued I believe.
Yes... Recommended Retail Price is rm6800.

Thanks you guys
Well the one lld that I'm looking is nondate preloved, not sure bout the condition. Tomorrow will check it. But price wise is close to malaysia rrp on brand new one. Thats somthing to give serious thought.
What about omega smp as per my reference above? I believe this is old model, non ceramic bezel? Any hint on rrp price in Malaysia?
-
Be careful, if you based your decision heavily on price chances are you will end up with a bargain not a watch.
What good is a watch when it remind you that you should have gone for the other instead.
If the price in Japan is not favorable then maybe you should look some where else instead of changing your mind.

The box weights like few Kgs, the heaviest watch box I owned so far.
I sometimes change to ZULU strap, like you've said, the original strap can't last too long..

Ck,
Sorry this might be really a newbie question,
How do you attached the original longines buckle to this aftermarket strap?
-
Remove the buckle with a tool and attach it on the new strap, just make sure the width is correct.
For the LLD, the strap should be 22mm taper to 20mm at the buckle.
Nice watch you got there bro!! If you ever get bored with it, do let me know... hehehe

Han,
So i have to push to the hole on the side of the buckle right?
Tynks for letting me know the strap size.
Eh, u got alrwady LLD right? Or u just not enuf with one?
At the moment not thinking to sell and cant imagine that i wud let it go hahah,
As for info, the watch is actually brand new, early in my post i said it was preowned, coz the advertisement in japanese i dont read japanese, and this shop sells preowned stuffs. And its located in nagoya,
The store is good because they courier the watch from nagoya to osaka just to let me see it with my own eyes with no obligation to buy. Thats a good service i must say.
-
No problem bro.
I once helped a friend to buy the LLD... still kicking myself in the nuts... should have kept it for myself... hahaha
Mind PM me what kind of deal you got for it? Thanks.
-
PM you bro!
