Hi sifus,
Just would like listen your opinions for these two brand comparison. Panerai watches seems become hot trend for the last 5 years but I found out really overprice and increase very fast compare to Rolex :o .But I feel rolex has the better quality and at least price wouldn't drop a lot compare to panerai although pam always more exclusive in terms of number of watches made out compare to rolex. What do you all think terms price, quality, accuracy and style? I am just a newbie so don't taruk me if there is statement offend some bros as I know a lot of bros here are pam freaks. ;D

as for quality and accuracy, the winner definetely will be Rolex. :Laughing_on_floor:

-
Wao~ that's bad... maybe that's a G series and before?
Hope the later version will have better quality...

ok...i tot some bad camera angle(i mean fog)
-
It's a newer series bro,
Non decorated movement, H series onwards....From the 1st pic it looks like a lume filled dial though..
It depends on how the owner take care of the watch as well...
Btw,I dont see dust from the movement,
however since the crystal is foggy at front which means that the watch is not air tight anymore,so it could be anything.
My 2 cents.

I like some of the Rolex and Panerai models but I think both are overpriced. That's why personally I will get many other watches before getting a Panerai or Rolex (e.g. Omega, Grand Seiko, Alain Siberstein, JLC, IWC, Ulysee Nardin, etc.).
-
The photos do not look right. Most likely a fake which could explain the poor quality.
1) It has painted dial meaning it's E, F or G.
2) Pre-H 111 movement should have the "Panerai" "Panerai" decorated movement.
Merzed, where on earth did you get the idea that the prices of Panerai drop more as compared to Rolex? There are also many Rolex models that don't retain the value very well.
-
it looks like 2 watches to me... the first pic is filled-lume and the 2nd and 3rd are sandwich dial..
that's why i thought it's a before G-series, but CK has a point, the series after G has non-decorated movement..... strange.. or maybe 2 watches also have the same problem?
honestly, it doesn't look fake to me from the picture...

This was based on comments from another forum members. Probably they are more on rolex :-\

Do a quick search on the FS of other major watch forums and you'll know the comments are off tangent. Panerai retains their value very well due to the low production quantity and high demand. It's one of the most sought after brands in pre-own shops and AD (with the exception of RG models).

er...my 1st watch is submariner and always thinking to get e remaining sport model like daytona, gmt iic & yacht master b4 i pull a stop........but e fact is after my submariner i was thinking i shd obtain a pam 1st thn iwc thn ap thn...."jia lat" i thk never end... :Laughing_on_floor:
i admit the resale value of pam is higher thn rolex...but rolex marketing is strong too.......u go and ask those uncle/auntie whoms are not into the fine watch abt rolex...i think 90% of them knew this brand instead of pam....both got their on strenght lar....
-
Rolex is very nice for me... but its too common already.. ask any ah beng, ah lian, ali, mohamad about rolex they sure know what its tat even the study textbook also mention abt rolex too  :'(
Go ask them about Panerai they will like "what is that ??? ???" unless u ask someone who is into watches they will know about it.. Low profile as i call it as
*still dreaming on the pam 000 :'( :HammerHead:
-
I guess it should be a same watch in the 1st n 2nd pic...
Both are having the dial with L swiss made L, which meanes it's a H or later series, as for the series before H only have L swiss L on the dial...
It could be because of the angle how the pic was taken... :-\
Rolex or Panerai?
as long as you like it..just go for any brand that you like..
sometime too much of analyse will make you paralyzed...at the end of the day, nothing is perfect..
We should learn to see a imperfect things/ person perfectly.. ;)
My two cents.

The dial looks painted. How can it be "L swiss made L" with painted dial? Fishy...

Better return the 112K to Richemont and you should give them a good tongue lashing. The misting up in the inner crystal is totally unacceptable.
I have heard of another case where the owner's crown guard just fell off after taking a little knock on a door. The crown guard is held to the case by two little screws. Maybe the screws were not tighten enough during assembly. I think it's better to wear a G-shock when playing sports....it sure can take any sort of beating.

is it the pam quality so bad?? :Startled:
-
wao scarry ler... you pay so much for it but the quality is ......... :o
-
LOL... i saw that post somewhere... that model hasn't been service for sometimes already and the crown might loosen out... by right the watch should send back for service every 3 to 5 years... i believe the full story might not been told by just looking at the picture alone ;) I believe the that watch hasn't been service for few years...
Personally, i have no problem fro Panerai build quality as i have own/owned few models..

i was first thinking not to reply in this topic since i do not know how to compare this 2 brand.... they r very very different actually... n yet they r very close at one time...
after reading alot of negative thing bout pam here... i was thinking is pam that bad?
i'm no a paneristi and associated with pam or richemont... i owned 2 rolex n a pam now...
rolex was designed for daily wear... a daily beater.... accurate, tough, good wr, gd shock resistant, easy to maintain...
pam design replicate its history oversize military divers look... good wr, good lume, easy to read....
some ppl complaint around rm15-20k
rolex use 904l steel, in house movement, good wr, bracelet, forever green design...
but pam use eta, 316l steel, leather/rubber strap...
but pam was not using a normal eta movement!
pam used soprod modified for them eta movement... its not as cheap as u think the movement pam using
for example the handwing movement
compare to a usd130 base 6497-1 movement
pam upgraded following
1. beat 21600 instead of 18000
2. 56 hours power reserve instead of 38
3. rhodium plated instead of nickel/non plated ( rhodium is most expensive metal, mush more expensive than platinum, nickel is much cheaper material)
4. perlage finish on part of base plate
5. bridges modified
6. bridges edges trimmed and polished
7. bridges has cote de geneva finishing
8. glucydur balance
9. cosc tested
10. flamed blued screws
11. polished barrel wheel
12. engraved its brand and gold plated
13. higher grade rubies
14. nivorox-1 hair spring
etc
so rolex has a 904l oyster case.... if u know the old rolex steel is poor... cant even stand human sweat.. i hv seen plenty of old rolex case back has
alot of 'portholes'...
pam? yes, its used 316l.... but 316l its good enough for a watch...
bracelet vs leather /rubber
rolex bracelet good? pls try the sinn, ball, omega.........
pam leather is dressy... its rubber strap is one of the best i ever find....
presentation
rolex box....u know what i mean...
pam... by far better....
bla bla bla.....
end of the day... we all must know that when both brand position themselve differently in market....
so ppl buy with different purpose.... which one better?
depend on who r u and why u buy the watch and how u use it.....
-
Yes, Rolex over engineered their bracelet and I believe 316L is more than enough to handle pitting under human sweat condition.
Rolex calibre is used exclusive for its watches while 6497 (from base to chronometer mvmt) is used in other brands. Some people look specifically for this exclusiveness. Nvm, it is rumored, Rolex sold their watches in the range of millions annually.
I find Rolex & omega are good and they are comparable.
-
buy one Lolex then buy another Pamerai will oke loh balanced up mah this is call hedging..... :Laughing_on_floor: :Laughing_on_floor: :Laughing_on_floor:

-
Those no second hand will not have COSC la... but my PAM0 seem pretty accurate

yes!
for historical line
all marina/those with small second model with cosc
all base/without small second model no cosc
unless u buy a cosc grade or non cosc grade movement from eta.... but not for pam.... pam use same grade
so only different cost is to get the cosc different is another thousand.... thats the only different!
pam may even need to pay more to remove the small second.... lol
-
wah....mind boggling but thanks for the info :) shared Now I know my watches better :Laughing_on_floor:

Like both brand. They produce great watches. If i have more money i'll buy more of them :HammerHead:
