I recently came across the phrase "Wabi-sabi", which in short, means a philosophy for accepting imperfections.
A good example of a wabi-sabi is the acceptance of discovering your precious watches have scratches.
Was kinda upset when discovered my new watch has scratches on the case.
Therefore, come, lets share your experiences and if you are a wabi-sabi person...
Well, guess for now, im not... :Laughing_on_floor:... still upset on the scratches!

Hi Low, I bought a new watch in 1st Oct 2011 from an Ad. After a week, I discovered 3 scratches on the bezel. When i took it 2 the AD, they said after 1 week they can't do anything about it. I sold it off at a loss n got a new 1 in Feb this yr. , this time i used my loupe to examine it for about 15 minutes before paying it. My mistake was not to examine the previous watch before paying n the 2nd was , I should not have got the replacement from the same AD . ( The watch cost me Rm 36,000) . I was 100% sure my watch did not make any contact with anything while wearing it once before i discover the imperfection . I could accept some scratches here n there if its a pre owned purchase. My philosophy is , I' m paying premium for this new watch n i expect a perfect condition one. regards tony..

There is a difference between buying a new watch scratched or a new watch get scratched. Also, how long it takes for one to consider his watch new. Obviously, I am not happy buy a new watch scratched but after wearing it for sometimes, a scratched watch is not something I worry too much unless it is a deep or ugly, i.e. a shiny line across a PVD (darken) surface, scratch

Agree.. If the scratches is not done by us (scratched either by AD or during manufacture), then for me, not acceptable as well..
However, if the scratches is due to the normal wear & tear by ourself, how? lol...
for me, I tried to polish it out my self, but after awhile, it comes back, so decided to just left it alone... but still always look at the scratches and felt abit sad.. lol..
that's what its called "unwabi-sabi" lol... :Laughing_on_floor:

1. were the scratches very deep and obvious?
2. will the watch gather scratches when worn?
I think we should answer this before we try to return merchandise. After all, receipts will usually say sales are usually final and no returns allowed. I believe we should enjoy wearing our watches instead of getting obsessed with minor imperfections.
