We are starting to plan earlier this year ;D.
The annual dinner will be on Saturday Jan 5th 2013.
ALL are welcome to join and the restaurant we choose will be serving food that suits 1Malaysia ;D
Venue will be in around the Klang Valley and will be PM to the people who attend.
Let this thread be the main discussion thread.

Some update.
I am speaking to a place which is a specialty coffee/tea cafe which has excellent drinks.
A menu is in the works now. Nothing too fancy.
The place has also agreed to invent a MWF welcome drink ;D
What i like about this place is their glass doors are LOCKED and customers need to ring to get in.
Safety is good!
The cafe closes at 1am so plenty of time for us to hang out if we decide to :Dancing_banana:
As it stands i have secured half the premisses. If we reach 30 members joining then i can request to close entire restaurant just for MWF.
Restaurant is pork free.

We have a good amount of people sign up so far.
And its good to have first timers joining.
Members, this is a great chance to know the crowd in MWF so please do sign up for the annual dinner.
Its very informal and just a casual gathering for all watch lovers.
If you have a friend who would like to join bring them along and sign up as well.

To all Firstimers, Newbies, Novice (whatever you want to categorise yourselves)...
Since I consider myself rather new to the forum...
From my first meeting during last Sunday's GTG, the MWF members (4 members and 2 mods) are a friendly and approachable bunch.
Did not feel intimidated in anyway and seriously look forward to the Anniversary Dinner.
So to all newbies like me, there is nothing to worry..."Ini group tak makan orang"...and that (literally) means a lot coming from a Plankton-Ikanbilis ;D

Putting this to the top.
Menu will be finalized in the next 2 weeks and venue is already confirmed.
If nothing drastic changes it will be held at Solaris Mont Kiara.

Meeting with the cafe owner this weekend to hopefully finalize the menu and details.
Will also post up final cost per person.
Hope more members join though as if so we can have the whole place to ourselves.

Spoken to the cafe owner and have finalized the menu.
I have opted to go simple as i wanna treat this as a gathering than anything extravagant ;D
Price for the annual dinner of MWF is rm65 nett.
For that you will get the below:
- Welcome drink specially created for the day only.
- Salad.
- Soup.
- Choice of main which is a simple lasagna or their specialty omelet.
- Dessert choice of house made tiramisu or lemon tart.
- Ice cream.
On top of that since that place is famous for its gourmet coffee and tea we get to choose any 2 from the menu regardless of price.
I think this is a good deal. Price i purposely make it "reasonable".
So come on guys, for those who have not yet sign up please do ;D
If we can reach 30 person i can ask them to close the entire place just for us.
As it stands we will have 70% of the cafe space to our self.

Lets make it 30 people or more so have reason to ask the cafe to close for our event only.
Menu for selection will be sent out within the next day for you guys to pre order the mains and dessert.

FYI on the 2 drinks you can select from their entire menu of over 50 different coffee and 50 different teas.
And yes even beer if you so choose.

There's no hierarchy at mwf's GTGs. Newbies, freshies, hero members.....we all merely provide the wrists on which our watches are strapped. All of us humans are just the supporting cast, the watches are the primary attractions.....so, please come, on condition that you don the cross of calatrava.. ;D

Also, to the person who is kindly organising, would the restaurant allow BYO? I would like to bring my Bowmore scotch and have a drink with you guys. I'll personally pay for the BYO fee. Sometimes tea and coffee just can't cut it. haha
Also wondering if there is a smoking section. Thanks for the kind welcome guys

Contacts for the mods will be sent out 1 week before the event.
Dont worry the cafe is not too big and we already taking up about 70% of their space.
I think BYO should be ok and since you saying you will pay the BYO fee i think should not be a problem. ;D
There is a patio outside area so can smoke there if you choose.

With your Calatrava making an appearance, the temptation is great indeed. I am negotiating with the Mrs and also looking at the site work schedule to see if I can take a day off.
Scotch and smokes sound extremely good too. :Cheers:

ha, single malt Islay, smokes....( Cohibas ?)..a man after my heart...
now it sounds really tempting...
last but not least.. to see the calatrava cross in the metal...
maybe we need to see how many single malt enthusiasts there are.. if there are many (6 drinkers can easily finish a bottle in an afternoon) may need more than 1 bottle Bowmore..
so if >6 and if I can make it, I can always bring another Islay single malt (surprise on which)...or for some variation, a single malt Yamazaki...
I think BYO is no issue if they have whisky glasses, ice and filtered water....

Hope the BYO charges are not expensive, normally I can't find Bowmore in malaysia being sold in pubs or restaurants anymore hence why i always bring my own. I just love the smoky flavour.

I love my single malts and smokes as much as watches and other toys...
However I can't confirm my schedule yet… Was told 28th is the last day to confirm…
Anyway I'm sure there are whisky enthusiasts within the attendees but to be fair to you, perhaps those keen should indicate now so that its easier to judge if 1 bottle suffices…
Perhaps Peter can also check with the owner on the BYO charges per bottle..since no service required (unless he has fair maidens serving), we can pour our own and their only cost is the water and ice, provided he has whisky glasses.

I haven't met him in a long long while and just whatsapp each other the other day and i found out he liked watches as well. So i thought i ask him join me meet some fellow WIS.
If its possibile, the menu selection would be the same as mine. i've already PM Ck77 on my menu choices.

Just confirmed the corkage fee is rm70 per bottle which includes 4 mixers.
Our numbers just not big enough to warrant closure of entire cafe on a Sat night.
But rest assured we have most of the place to our self.
At least until 10pm anyway, i think thats when the night crowd start to come.

All you need to do is pay one of the mods when you reach on Sat.
I will send out the location within this 2 days.
