Post by: saru04 on October 13, 2012, 03:10:17 PM
Hey MWF,

I am currently looking for another pair of watch with classic dressing.

Can you guys recommend me where and which model to get please.

and of course the price range. I'm not too sure with the prices for classic dress watch so I dunno what my budget should be.

What's your budget?
Below 10K?, below 20K, below 100K?

This may give you some clue.

For a budget watch, i think a Tissot Visodate is nice... simple, elegant..
For mid class, i actually kinda like the Maurice Pontos Date-Day...
For high class, no idea xP

Actually I'm into the Patek Philippe Calatrava.

But obviously it is out of my budget so I'm looking for something similar.

My budget for now is 4k to 5k.

Longines makes very nice dress watches, especially the master collection:

I like this one:

They do have very simple 3 hand (with date) watches in the master collection.

I think it's over your budget unfortunately, unless you can find one on the second hand market.

I think for your budget, Tissot is the best.

actually how does hand windling works?

actually how does hand windling works?

actually, it should be called finger winding as the fingers are used to wind the crown, not the whole hand.

normally, hand winding means the watch needs to be manually wound to keep up the power reserve. there is no automatic winding system inside.

p/s. if you are really asking about hand windling, does that refer to some teenage private pastime??

There are a couples of mid range swiss watches such as Epos, Frederic Constant, Mido which make affordable and elegant dress watch. Do check them out. They have quite a good range for you to try.

sorry was too into the design that I didn't notice where its from.

Is there anyone in this forum or anywhere to get Junghans?

and is Steinhart watches good?

Need some reviews or experience.

Their design seems okay for the marine watch "marine 38".

And as for the design for the watch, I'm looking for something like:
http://www.google.com.my/imgres?num=10&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=667&tbm=isch&tbnid=5e-FmRArlwjmVM:&imgrefurl=http://www.lacotedesmontres.com/Patek-Philippe-5127-or-blanc-PdN.htm&docid=aAYMUjA0ol33PM&imgurl=http://www.lacotedesmontres.com/IMG_neuf/imgStd/Patek-Philippe-5127-or-blanc.jpg&w=600&h=600&ei=vcV9ULaHFoKQrgeE2YC4Dw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=547&vpy=137&dur=1423&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=118&ty=114&sig=101842735998147061650&page=1&tbnh=141&tbnw=141&start=0&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0,i:74

But obviously the one in the picture is totally out of my range. Haha.  ;D

Rolex 1601 is 36mm. Should hit the upper end of your budget, about 5k. Mind you, some of them might probably be 40+ years old so you'd need to make sure it's running well.

The Junghans is very nice, very clean and neat and should be within budget for a brand new watch. Try the shop in 1 Mont Kiara.

Like quality and all.
