Title: Official Malaysian Navy Watch
Post by: chanwengyan on October 04, 2012, 10:48:03 PM
I guess some kawan here are interested to know more about Malaysian Armed forcey (Air force, Navy or Army) issue watch.

I found an official document from Malaysian Navy, and its state clearly that, "Eco-Drive" watch is issue watch for divers. I believe is Citizen Eco Drive..

Pleaes scroll until the 2nd last page of the document.

Looking for some si-fu to identify the model.

Great posts, a Casio Protrek and an Eco-Drive diver.

Hey sshark, I think it's better if you can post the picture instead of using a link to a commercial web-site. Takashi the Vigilant Mod is probably asleep now I guess, once he wakes up, he is going to edit your post and the other members will not be able to see 100% of your posts.

I took a screen grab of the images in the PDF:

Citizen Eco-Drive diver.

(b) Bahan dan Warna - logam berwarna perak dan kelabu
dan tali penyambung daripada getah berwarna hitam.
(c) Reka Bentuk - bulat jenis Eco-Drive elektronik dan
mempunyai jarum jam. Tali penyambung disekeliling ukur
lilit pergelangan tangan.

Looks like a real serious diver with depth gauge and everything. Whats the exact model # and is it available for sale in Malaysia watch shops (or only available in diver shops)? An interesting choice.
Edit: Found it via Google: Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Aqualand Diver Watch JV0055  :Dancing_banana:

Much easier to find. Not too sure of the exact model but I have seen it all over the place. Interesting to see that they use tough solar Casios.

What is the TLDM policy here? Are the sailors issued these watches or are they expected to buy out of own pocket? Curious minds need to know.
 ??? ??? ??? ??? ::) ;D

Its part of the standard issue- i.e the sailors are given the watches to use just like their boots etc. Damaged watches are expected to be returned for a reissue. Any repairs would also need to be done via the quartermasters corp.
