Looks to be something interesting.
This is the first time i see a watch company trying to revive a brand this way.
So what are your thoughts?
-
Can't comment on the brand but the style of financing unique. Its a venture capital style but for the retail/mass market. There are a number of studies done to research the effectiveness of this model to capital formation. Generally, the results is similar to VC for the wholesale market = very risky with high failure rate. The likelihood of failure is compounded further by the lack of direct participation to the business operations (if there are only a handful of investors, everyone can be appointed to the Board and oversee the operations, but if the numbers are in the 10s and 100s, this option is not feasible).
Conclusion: a gamble.

From the website it looks like 83 people have already "joined" on board.
Will be interesting to follow if by SIHH/Basel they will exhibit there.
-
Thanks but not 4 me , always easier said than done. regards tony

Very optimistic projections. Investing in gold is better.

There is one successful crowd funding which i heard of for watch making
You can check out http://www.vicenterra.ch/
I had asked the owner,he said their investor wait for about 2-3 years before they receive the actual watch.
Good concept tho

DuBois et fils is the "oldest Swiss watch factory" and no needs to play games with such a high value brand.
The project is under Swiss law and controlled by lawyer. The products are developed and a serious business can begin soon.
DuBois et fils handle everything very transparent and answers all questions - try it.

Hi Guys,we do actually have the owner on board with us as well in MWF for this thread. Im sure he will be glad to answer all of our question.
Hope it clears all of our doubtful.

When we only get to see the full scale designs and details of the watch?
It seems like little info has been available in the website about the latest design
-
next Monday, October 8th, we show first pictures of our concept ONE to our new shareholders, Tuesday we open the book for all on facebook and website

Cool :Dancing_banana:
So how many watches will be launching for this year?Is it only concept one?
-
relaunch is planed for April 2013 and we start with 3 watches in concept ONE and 3 watches in concept TWO. Delivery for concept THREE is planed for Fall 2013. Be aware that we are doing only limited edition watches - 99 pcs each watch.
-
hmm the site is dis-proportionate on firefox as the project presentation window is small...looks better on IE.
anyway, what kinda investment amount are we looking at here?

All the info is already on the website. Even the investment amount.
-
Will the brand be at BASEL 2013?
-
make no sense to spend so much money Basel Fair in this stage. More and more difficult for small brands to participate Basel or Geneva.
In future we have an office in Basel and for sure with a really nice showroom.
-
now first pictures of the new DuBois et fils watch "concept ONE" are available on the website

This sparked my interest. How about a running seconds hand in white and just the chrono functions in red?
-
we will offer several different colour executions
