Watches with acres of glass area really do need anti-reflection coating on them.

Panerai without AR:

I was planning to take a pic of the Panerai for the pic of the day thread (same room, same lighting conditions) since the PO picture came out nicely. No such luck with the Panerai - everything reflected obscuring the dial image. You can see the iphone reflected in the Panerai picture.
I still like the Panerai but now that I have noticed it (all the reflections when I look at the watch), it's really distracting; it really needs an anti-reflective coating. Or is it just the PAM 320?

I think your omega has interior n exterior AR coating,so its like wearing a watch without glass. enjoying wearing ..
-
The cons, do not expose it to perfume or deeper scratch on the ext. AR coating.. regards.

The sad fact is that the 2012 catalog says that the PAM 320 is supposed to have AR coating on the crystal. After a very careful examination, I would say that my PAM 320 does not appear to have any. If there is, it's not very effective. It won't be the first time that a catalog does not correspond to reality.
And yes, my PAM is, "Ori punya".
To some collectors, an AR coating is actually a minus since the AR tint will affect the color/look of the dial and AR coating is easily scratched. I haven't noticed that problem with my Omegas.

AR coating is ok for me. ONLY if it can be on the inner side of the crystal.
Nothing more ugly than a scratched up AR coating on the front crystal.

I think pam 320 has AR coating on the inside of glass only.

Agreeable. Its quite common for d Omega Planet Ocean series outer AR to get scratches n marks as the crystal is domed. Mine had a few even though I tried to be careful with it. Quite unsightly and the only way is to replace it which is time consuming n expensive.

why replace? why not just have the outer AR coating removed?

I'm thinking...
Is it possible to have the crystal on my Panerai AR coated on both sides by a third party watch service center?
The watch is still under international warranty - I wonder if its possible to get the Singapore service center to AR to the crystal (or add more as it is).
Anything is possible I guess given enough $$$. If opticians do it routinely why not watch people.
Any idea who can do such a thing locally? M'sia/S'pore? Jww down in S'pore?

I actually prefer non coated crystal. Less hassle and worries. Just a flick of the wrist would solve any problems should there be any glare.
My Sinn 857s has coating on both sides vs my rolexes which has none. To be truthful, I hardly notices the difference other than the blue hue on those with AR.

Can AR be removed after applied by the manufacturer ???

I wonder how the Rolex sports models will look like with AR coating and I hazard a guess that its policy that AR is not offered on their watches.Anyway,I do like them glossy and would not have it any other way.
