Title: Omega De Ville Annual Calendar
Post by: JPSP on September 03, 2012, 07:28:03 PM
Hey guys,

What do you think of this watch as a dress watch? anyone has experience with this watch?

De Ville collection is not so sought after compared to seamaster/speedy...why is it so?

Because it's neither here or there. The De Ville have shuffled around for decades. It was on its own for awhile then in the seamaster range then constellation so ... ... it's a mess to follow.

I like some of the De Ville but dislike most of the collection.

I would prefer those in the aqua terra series than Deville for i love the 8601 more. 8601 has better annual calendar system than other higher end annual calendar watches. for instance, it knows to jump from Feb 29 to Mac 1.

As with most brands, dressy watches are less sought after compared th the seamaster range,POs,Speedies etc.

Similarly, look at the Rolex Cellini range, same old story but Patek is a different beast altogether

For this model no. I felt that day marker is optional but a month marker is a must because it is an annual calendar watch.

ooppps... I meant there is no day window for this watch. it does jump from Jun 30 to Jul 1 or Feb 29 to Mac. This is not a standard feature, though. I read that PP and another high end brand perpetual calendar doesn't jump their date either for months with shorter than 31 days.

What do i think?
I too disliked the deville collection.
Just doesn't seem to sing.

If it's an annual calendar, I would go for this one.
