A question for owners of the 40mm Rolex Explorer 2 owners... Would you flip your 16570 for a 216570?
I have a white one which has gone back to being a daily wearer and am thinking of flipping it for a white 216570. Would you do it? Or would you keep the old one and just get the newer model?
-
I would. If i own a 16570. I like the new 216570 better.
Unless it is the 16550 then I won't do it.
Regards
Tyler

No.

No, unless you prefer a slightly bigger watch n it also looks similar from afar . Get the black n keep the white if you have to. just my opinion tony

I would in a heartbeat as the 216 has better presence:solid link bracelet and new style clasp, bigger 42 mm case, standout orange GMT hand, maxi hands, and cool blue lume.I had both and if I had to do it all over again,I would

I have no fancy for watches with black dials. When I first bought the 16570, it was the white that I liked more than the black. And to me, the 216570 is also best in white. The black dial and the funny black hands just don't look right to me.

I have tried it on and I really like it. Only question is if I like it enough to flip the 16570 or just keep it and have two very similar watches.
-
I would keep only one. They look way too similar to for me to keep both of them.

I agree with what Tony said, keep the white & buy another black, so that they don't look similar. ;D

I don't own the 16570 but when i bought the 216570, the former were still available and i had the chance to compare both side by side on the wrist... I chose the latter.

The 216570 is awfully out of proportion - IMHO.
Personally, I would much prefer the 16570 - much more well balance exp 2.

Agreed....

That was my initial reaction as well. Surprisingly the white dial is more forgiving than the black. After wearing a few times I have come to appreciate the legitimacy of the dial. I can tell time for miles away.

Yes the white dial rocks wrt legibility
-
flip? Yes
keep both? No, due to similarity
16710 rootbeer, pepsi compare with 116710, 116713?
flip? No
Keep both? Yes

Get a new black.
You will have more range.
-
No for me. I agree with DC's comment that 216570 is a bit out of proportion. Then again I always prefer watches < 40mm given the size of my wrist so I'm a bit bias :)

Orange hand... Too attractive! Y not?
Unless u hv the old Steve McQueen ... Then get a new one to pair it!
Like it or not, Rolex is going bigger... So as other watches... Future... Is big!
Orange hand in Rolex is Rare

And I have been wondering why only the 216570 is at 42 mm and the new ceramic sub and GMT master II is still at 40 mm . Before their release I was expecting all the sports models to be 42 mm. Even the new explorer is at 40 mm up from 36 mm

Don't forget the Yachtmaster II, which (if I recall correctly) stands at 44mm according to Rolex's website. The Datejust II is 41mm. The sub-c date is still 40mm, but it looks larger than the 40mm 16610. Back to the 216570, perhaps Rolex is demonstrating it can also make large and youthful watches above 40mm. See comparative pic of 16570 below. IMHO, the predecessor looks a little too conservative (although no doubt still a very reliable and attractive watch) after you have tested the 216570.

Just wait and see if they also up the daytona to 42mm (or larger???) when its time comes. ;) ;)

I have owned all the sports rolexes before and the one which wears smallest is the Exp II 16570 . My white dialled version looks tiny on my wrist all becoz of the SS bezel which is not the color of the dial so at a glance the entire watch looks small. My black dialled version also looks smallish. Maybe coz of the SS bezel the new E2 is bigger so the illusion of size does not arise?Juz my 2 sen.
OTOH, the new ceramic sub wears bigger coz of fatter lugs and also coz the bezel color is the same as the dial.maybe coz of this fact they maintained the size of the ceramic models at 40 mm

For me I'd keep it. Have too many black dial watches. Anyway, due to my small wrist size, 40 mm is prefect size for me. My watches size range from 40-46 mm. And most comfy is the 40mm one (sub-c)
In fact I'm in the market for a white 16570. PM me if you wanna sell. Thanks
-
i noticed there are at least 2 preowned polars being offered for sale at the sales thread....solid sellers too. maybe u can try contacting them...

White dun have but black dial got ;)

This is bad.. now I'm tempted not to flip it and just acquire a white 216570 later...

I am a 16570 owner, considered the 216570 and toyed with it at the AD
Like all new Rolexes it is too big and bling for my taste, and I hate those fat hands.
Most of all I cannot tahan the ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX thing on the rehaut....so I guess ill never buy a new generation Rolex of any kind ;D

It's not that bad actually. Sits very well on my risk, it was running at +8sec/day, but I got RSC to regulate it down, now its +1/per day accordinhg to my seiko quartz. Bracelet is improved and feels more solid. Easylink is a useful addition.

Yeah, agree that the bracelet is so much better than before, and I do like that orange hand compared to the old red one.
I tried it on, but just couldnt connect with it that time....I suspect it will look great on a nice strap
Maybe should try again hehe

I have seen some ppl polish off the rehaut... So there's still hope for you ;D

Ya ka bro..polish off.....interesting
Hahaha, but if I send it back for service at the AD they will just replace with another, like how if u remove the cyclops they will put one back? And then give you a lecture about unauthorised mods :Laughing_on_floor:

When the printed rehaut came out a few years ago (was it 2007???) a lot of people complained about Rolex spoiling the look. But if you read TRF, Timezone etc nowadays, hardly a whisper of this complain anymore. Yes, geeting used to is one factor, but the likely reason is that the ROLEXROLEXPOLEX print is not done in a different colour like say black or (worse) green. Most of the time they are not easily noticed and most of the time failed to be notice. I won't even bother polishing them off.
-
Enkidu - very true what you say. I guess it will take a few more years for me about this rehaut thing, i am very slow to adapt to change :)
Must be old age haha, not young man ;)

I have owned a few EXII before, someone when come to EXII, I tend to like the white face, maybe I have gotten too many black face dial like GMT or Sub. The 216570 definitely looks stunning with orange hand, and the luminova in blue is really pretty. But it is slightly too big again for a small wrist like mine, but then once you compare to Panerai, it is still considered reasonable and not too big. I am quite impressed with this 216570, and Rolex finally done something for EX-II, especially they have done upgrade to GMT and Sub, so it is naturally something is done to face lift this EXII. Now we have more options.

As you can see from my pic above, I got the one with black dial. After I got my watch (from HK), my brother-in-law saw it, got hooked and went searching for one. I think he bought one from the Rolex Boutique down at Pavilion, but he bought the one with white dial because the black was sold out. Comparing the 2, yes, I have to agree with you that the white has its merit -super legibility!!!!

Dangerous advice there Hanz. Value will plummet like a meteor crashing to earth. ;D ;D

You must have very good eyesight as I have a hard time seeing the ROLEXROLEX print. The fat hands were a little funny at first as well, but I seem to have grown to it. The hands look more "correct" on the white dial than the black one. The real plus is the orange hand.
I think in the updated Rolex range, the 216570 is the least "blingy".
Incoming perhaps???

that's the way !
no regrets later. (flip and after awhile, you will miss 16570 lor)
... unless you like that 'missing' feeling. (long time no see lover feeling) ;D

the floating hands on the new expII is starting to interest me....
not bad at all.....

Concur. The hands need to be fatter to balance out the increased dial size and heck, the maxi dial and hands of the various ceramic sprt Rolexes are not that much smaller I should think.Yes,the orange hand ticksmmy box :thumbsup:The rehaut is too inconspicious to be worth mentioning really
-
I was comparing16570 with216570 side by side before I pulled trigger on 16570.
My wrist is small and 16570 fit better.
The GMT 2nd hour hand is longer till it could cover the hour marker. It's easier to tell 2nd time.
Then, the final and decisive difference is that 216570 preowned price is RM 5k more than 16570. :Laughing_on_floor:
That's why I choose 16570. Cos I can make good use of the RM 5k to buy some bink blink for my wife-always remember this rule "A happy wife makes a happy family"!
-
I still prefer my 16570
