I am happy that Rolex has finally updated the Submariner, but wish it was 42 mm instead of 40 mm. Oh well, 5513?

So that's means the new submariner is still 40mm?
-
But with a new case and ceramic bezel.
-
Old 40mm diameter with new bigger case just like GMT 2? Nice!
-
Since the old Sub is going for 19k now... these new ones are likely to be around 23-24k?
That's like GMTIIc territory.... blur...
-
I really dont know how the RP goes. Those days when rolex price goes up, the AD tell me that
USD strengthens against RM. Today when USD is low, they tell me that swiss franc is v high against RM. I agree that the new yatchmaster n sub ceramic will be at least Rm25K RP.
-
winner
-
Hans.. I asked an AD 2 days ago the price of the old sub (on behalf of a friend), They quoted RM26k... How come such a big price difference?
-
Finally
14060M has been disappear on their website years ago.

Hahahahaha the nonsense has started. Now the prices of the 14060M (4 line version will sky rocket). Now where was that nice 14060M 2 line for sale ad..... ;)

26k? That's like the price of the Sub C Date... Submariner 14060m should be around 19k+ no discount.
-
There is a sub in sale section.
Faster grab it before it raise 1k tomorrow :Laughing_on_floor:
-
... i'm thinking and thinking about that FS...
if only i could get myself to actually like the Sub line. closest for me is a little leaning towards the YM
-
looks like alot brand has been following big watch trend...

Why you say so?
It's still 40mm, albeit a bigger case.
-
If 14060 price Sky rocket thn might as well get a 5513? I dnt like the thick lug even though I own a subC..
-
this will be a classic and best rolex made, take my money $$$ ::)

Bye bye lug holes :'( :'(

Was at rolex gardens this afternoon, 14060M still under 20... I think 26 is the submariner date
It is time to take the plunge???
-
I bought my black Sub (M series) at about rm18k in 2008. After 4 years it has increased by rm8k albeit it was the older version. So if I want to buy a Sub now, I have to forked out at least RM20k. Glad I did what I did then.
-
Prefer the old sub but definitely love the new blue lumes on the new one.....

x2  sadly that's how Rolex is advancing and hope they won't do anything supersozing to the Daytona. New exp 1. has lost it's charm , same goes to exp.2 . The bigger aren't necessary better . I m not being biased I m speaking just on my own opinions. I wn big watches too, offshore ,yatchmaster 2,iwc.. But Rolex were true beauty on the previous 16610 and all the explorers before there were lugged being sized or super sized ! And common admit it, we are no celebrities :p
-
Glad Rolex didn't kill the Submariner (basing upon the rumours and uncertainty swirling around this past couple of years). Even with the new ceramic bezel, this is the closest, relatively, to the original design. I personally love this 114060, and am interested to see it in person. Some say it will only reach our shore in September, which I hope is not true. As to the price, I'm hoping it's gonna retail at RM16K, though some might call that daydreaming! ::)
-
I doubt it will be rm16k...
I think should be around at least rm18k.....
-

Official prices have them at 5500euro.
Some say too close to the sub date ceramic.
How will the public take this? Only time will tell.
Old ones still on the ad window are going for rm19300 no discount.
-
Submariner is one of the classic of rollie. Dont think they will kill it. Btw, how much is the list price now?

Rolex is uncle watch.... So uncle scare confuse, so better say sub no date
Bcoz if he say Rolex sub, ppl sure ask ur sub got date or not?
If he say sub, ppl will ask what u mean? Sub sub water? Hum sub? Hambalang sub? Hisap? ...
So safe way is to call at least sub no date if can say rolek sub no date

The Submariner was introduced at the Basel Fair 1954 (model 6204 I think) and it was not until 1965 that the first Sumariner appeared with the date complication. As we all know both models have the word "Submariner" printed on them. The original Submariner (6200, 6500, 6300, 5513, 5512, 14060M series) all have the words "Oyster Perpetual" printed below the word "Rolex". The dated version (1680, 16800...) all says "Oyster Perpetual Date" since introduction in 1965. My memory may be rusty, so members must read with a generous pinch of salt.
But most people (IMHO) who buy the Submariner have no interest whatsoever in its long history. They only see one with a date window which says "oyster perpetual date" and a thinner version without date window which says "oyster perpetual". The dated version is more expensive (hence more opportunity to boast, especially if you are in urban jungle Singapore or Hong Kong), more useful for the office desk-bound divers (when they are actually working and not lurking around the watch fora in the Internet) and probably appeared in more Rolex advertisements. Hence, the name submariner became almost synonymous with the dated version (and certainly not the rookie submariners of the RMN and probably the Singapore navy also who seldom take their pristine submarines below water). This of course gave rise to the misnomer "Submariner" and "ND-Submariner". Just my take, of course, feel free to disagree.
-
My opinion is that it all started with for sale threads...
Alot of forums listed submariners for sale, and most probably some without pictures and without complete listing of model numbers and all.
And I am guessing the most question they get is "The Sub you offering is date or no-date?"
Sooner or later, ppl tend to list the watch as "Submariner No Date for sale"
Which is what I see all the time... even in overseas forums.
I agree with Hobbs though... blogs should play their part rather than add to the confusion.
I am sure those who buy the Sub or Sub Date does not care what the watch is really called.
It's simply a "Rolex"

Endiku, no means to disrespect whatsoever. One will actually feel a bit 'kuku' when wearing submariner in Singapore or Hong Kong cos they are everywhere. Incidentally, a lot of sport shoes sale persons in Hong kong love submariner, explorer or GMT 2. Just to share two of my personal encounters with you, i was at one C branded shop in central hk once. The sale attendant spoted my green submariner and cant wait to show me her green submariner in return and told me thats a good buy. :o
Then, there was once i was inside a minibus and i spoted i was surrounded by 6-7 submariners and explorers. well, rollie is probably slightly less common in msia. But there are just everywhere in Hk/spore. I am not exargerating when i say wearing a submariner in hk is just like wearing a seiko in kl.
-
I can't say much about sub in hk coz i am not there. i doubt sub is as common in sg. at least not everywhere up to the point where 6 to 7 ppl wearing sub in a bus. also, r they real? :)
-
with the median income, currency value, small sized nation of HK, SG and JP. it's not uncommon for Rolexes or infact luxury items to be everywhere.
Since big ticket items like cost of houses and car ownership is too high, ppl tend to have more expendable income to spend on this small luxury items.

That's true.
I was in HK last year and ppl on the MRT are all wearing subs or gmtiic... lv and gucci bags are aplenty as well.
Reason is I think they dun spend so much on other things like houses and renovations as houses are really small there...
And not everyone owns and maintain a car as well.
Being Malaysians, we tend to focus more on our homes and only spend the most part of our disposable incomes on homes and family.
Renovations, a new furniture like a new shelf or cabinets of upgrading some part of the house... I dun think HKers do those... their homes is as small as they come and since there is no need to spend there, then they spend on their luxury belongings...
There is a reason why HK is Rolex's 2nd biggest market.
And LVs 2nd biggest as well...
And like terrence said, with their median income, a Rolex is like a month or two pay, meanwhile for average Malaysians, it's more like a year's pay.
-
Yeah, not to mention 'face saving' which is very important for most hong kongers. ;D
They look quite real to me from a distant. But i reckon some of them bought it pre owned too. Some even bought it by installment.
The most fancy watch i ever spotted in KL was a Breguet La tradition by an uncle in his 50s. Other than that, I hardly notice people wearing fancy watches in KL.

+ 1 that is very true, therefore rolex are considerably more to them . A fresh graduate professional say an engineer get pays like around 20k hkd where as in malaysia its around 2k .. lol.. so maths does not lie. But instead a renovation and not to mention owning a house is so much dearer in hk ..and don't forget that most malaysian own cars were Hongkies take the public transport. cause most hongkies can't afford to own a vehicle. They will spend their disposable income they can afford say nice watch, clothes , bags and other goodies.

The discussion is bit out of topic lately.
Let's focus on the title of this thread.

I somewhat commented too quickly. Today I hopped on a MRT and saw 2 rolexes right in front of me, a deep sea and a previous version of gmt 2c which was worn by an auntie. I think most of the time I missed the rush hours and ride the train with a different crowd.
Today could be 1 off thing where I am "served" with rollies :)

Sold the 104 to a auntie and bought a replica instead. Uncle eyes no good can't tell the difference between the fake n original so buy cheaper one la. Save money what.
-
hahahahaha. Well, i wont buy replica cos they ain't cheap and they spoiled easily.
Anyway, sorry for out of topic. I have a submariner and still keeping it. Well, what i will say is submariner is a very reliable piece. If u r keen, better grab it soon cos the price just keep moving up.

Yeah, i stepped in rollie AD sometime ago, i notice some of the rollie AD arent friendly there. Also, the price is not cheap. I think one will be better off purchasing rollie especially the sport model overseas cos there are readily stocks and the price is good.

was this price for the 116613 from an AD or grey dealer? is it for a new or pre-owned piece?

Somehow the sub ND still cant compare to the sub date. I'm just biased. Ignore me
-
TJ, i am with you on this.

What were the criteria you comparing against?
Somehow the sub ND still cant compare to the sub date. I'm just biased. Ignore me

None in particular, Its just me. I just prefer watches with date display.
-
Aussie sub no date in the older version had similar price with KL. The diff is that they put the watch on display and did not hide it like some dealer did.
-
generally sub date is more popular and in demand in pre-owened market. so, its very much a demand and supply thingy.

The Sub Date may be more popular by the masses but the most bad-a$$-coolest-martha-fockers wears the Sub; e.g. Bond, Mcqueen  and that's all the endorsement that I need :Laughing_on_floor:
-
the Sub Date may be popular and that makes it common. i don't see the demand coming into the equation.

Hi guys! Where's the best place to get a nice submariner with date in kl ya?
Have been eyeing it for too long already, cannot tahan already :-)
As i know there are rolex boutiques in gardens and pavillion ( however i did went inside the shop, however had a bad experience there, the sales lady didnt even look me in the eye and refused to even tell me the price ).
Just looking for a nice friendly shop with a relatively great price.
Also do they have it stock, or does one have to order it first?
Hehe sorry havent purchased any rolex before :-)

From my experience both AD at gardens and pavillion gave me good service. I think the best way to approach SA in AD is once u step in into the shop look at them and straight away tell them u want to buy watch and the model u r looking for.

I agree. Walk in like a bawse and ask for the specific model. Most SA will layan one. Pavillion last I ask no stock of the sub-c date. Will be in around mid May. RRP was black 26k and LV going for 28k. I wanted to wait but then came a great deal online .....kenot tahan so I bought the P.O Ceramic instead.

Try overseas. Ask your friend or relative to grab it for you when they travel. Generally rollie ADs in malaysia are one kind. They dont give a sxxx to you if you are not the kind of customer who will just go in and buy straight away.

flat 10% discount max on TT sport models. not negotiable. sucks big time.

Do they have the Submariner Green Hulk - Rolex 116610LV in stock?

This is what I least like about ADs in KL, always hiding the popular models & take chance to sell at premium. When visited Thailand last 2 weeks, I noticed their AD displays all the new models up front, which include all the ceramic models (green & black) & new Explorer II (black & white face), new Tudor Fastrider models (red & silver face). Dubai & Macau ADs display all new models up front too when I visited end last year. So, do not restrict yourselves from buying local. I only buy local so far to help keep the money in M'sia & support the ADs we always visited & became friends. But... will buy overseas if price is right from now on.

The HULK (green bezel, green dial) and The Kermit (green bezel) are all LV but just different ref no.
Hulk - 116610LV

:)
LV? It should be green hulk actually.

Off course they have but they need to sell to the right person(regular or the ones that buy more than 1). You see for every 2 mil stock they order they only have 20 Sub the rest is datejust so they want you to buy the datejust before sell you the sports model.

Hi Dpkong,
Do they have the Submariner Green Hulk - Rolex 116610LV in stock?
Been to a few ADs in Penang, Ipoh & KL - no stock & they are looking to mark up the price due to demand. :Scolding:
Still dreaming..... :Praying:

Hulk prices vary from Ad to Ad. Local Ad's will ask your contact to be placed on their waiting list as it is quite rare. I'm new in this forum hence I will refrain from disclosing where and at what price. But last i saw was in a non Ad in Giza.

Just like when shopping in China (on other goods generally, not limited to watch). The dealers will put the worst or least quality goods in the front of their shop, and as one goes further inside the shop, one will find better quality products. If one were to enquire further, the shopkeeper will produce the best products hidden away somewhere once the shopkeeper sensed that you would like to buy the most expensive items in their shop.

the bezel insert for the divers rotatable bezel is made of highly scratch resistant ceramic instead of scratch prone aluminum in most divers watch...
