In the recent GTG there was an interesting looking watch, a Panerai cased Rolex. Here Is an article about it.

I would not say that it is a hoax. Who knows. The history of Rolex is very blotchy at best, what more with it's level of secrecy. Does not help as Panerai history is also not an open book.

Got Iphone?
Download the 100years of Rolex app... upper sources told me. ;D
The photo is in there so I doubt it's a hoax.

guyz...
not just this watch history is not 100% real... even about the pam....
so far no body can 100% sure, which is which.... nothing documented...
whole history bout pams by guessing... base on the highly arguable vintage pieces!
some said it is made by rolex
some said rolex supply the parts and movement
so nobody can sure which is which
big egi, small egi, marina militare dial, luminor panerai dial.... California dial... rolex crown? brevet crown...
sandwich dial, rolex dial... 6152/1, 6154..... crown guard, diamond crown....
all these are information gather from the watch engraving....
so the only thing i know is.... i cant afford for it even though if it is available here on the market !!!

Agree, even RSC can get it wrong. More so vintage piece. Reminds me of the time I went to Omega Service to check with them the cost of changing the battery in the X-33 and the was told that Omega don't make digital watch.

looking at the 2012 catalog....and looking at the new radiomir 1940.....
i can only says.... pam always response to market.....
they knew ppl like it, they will make it and sell... in the end, it is a business entity, $$$ is top priority!!!
when they see rxw mm20... replicating its vintage pieces.... with 47mm case, sandwich dial, soft iron case....
they responded with the pam 1950....
after seeing the RWC 1938.... they responded with pam249....
then homage of 5133, 6152/1, big egiziano.... and now the small egiziano 6154.....
i guess next will be the bezel engrave model....
history about making a watch(instrument) to assist a submarine to bomb another ship.... is not for us to sing for it !!!
so i buy the pam because i like the design.... i wont talk big about pam history....

A Pam cased Rolex?
Maybe it is true or coulb be a "franken" ( a cross between Rolex & Panerai) parts which resulted in this watch.
Anyway, if the collector or owner likes it, why not?
