Title: Another one bites the dust. But which one?
Post by: JPSP on February 22, 2012, 09:09:02 PM
Looks like we have a thread on the most popular watches/brands. Just for the sake of fun, what about some guesswork on which brands will bite the dust in the next 3-5years?

1. Nubeo
2. Carl F. Bucherer
3. Locman (are they still around?)
4. Dubey & Schaldenbrand

Where is the voting button then?

1- Freakin UGLY!
2- They had their in house movt and i think won some award? Will be around for some time i think.
3- Aren't they owned by Swatch of something?
4- Bought over from original owner by some 21yr old kid few years back i think. Some of the old designs are kinda good looking.

3. Locman is still there but not under Swatch.
4. Yeah, Jonathan Gil bought D&S from Cinette Roberts in 2009. He was 22.

I recall his watches often appeared in the watch magazines from the late 1990's and early 2000's but looked to much like Lego for my taste.

Overheard that Revue Thommen not producing anymore..

Really?? Although most of their watches look rather uninspiring, I seem to remember they have their own in-house movements (eg GT54, 55, 56...). Maybe someone will snap up the movements when if it goes dormant.

RT changed ownership i think?

Orfina (maker of orfina porsche) changed ownership last year or before that. I remember few years ago they still offer to refurbish those orfina porsche 5100 (had to send to their workshop in Switzerland)
