Hi all,
I'm currently in the market for a watch and has been contemplating between the Omega Speedmaster Pro or the Longines Legend Diver. I have never worn a manually wound watch (as the SpM is) and wonder if it's actually a hassle for most people who owns it. I was told that the Legend Diver's stock is pretty limited in Malaysia (and apparent out of production?) and perhaps I should get that first over the SpM?
Or can anyone suggest a watch with a good history that I should consider as well? I own many watches, mostly as a remembrance to significant events in my life (finished schools, graduating, etc) and this time around it is for my wedding.
Of course a Submariner would be ideal but I'm too committed to many things at this point to get a 28k watch.
Please don't mention Tag Heuer, Tissot or Oris :) (no offense to owners of the respective brands)

with no confusion to you and juz put the 2 brand and model you mentioned.
i will go for omega. omega +1

I would say your budget is around RM10-15k right? Do you mind picking up pre-loved submariner (complete set)?
-
Omega for sure!
-
Once you get used to it,it is actually a joy to wind . This is interaction btw owner and watch.
Moreover you can't go wrong with the iconic moonwatch of which I have owned quite a few
-
no suprise i'd go 4 the Omega... besides Seiko my fav afordable brand!

pm me if you found any submariner at 15k

longines weems u interesting on hahaha

Are you looking at getting new watches or any watch within your budget? The LLD, I believe is about half the cost of the Speedmaster. As yes, if your budget can get you a Speedmaster, and you would like a Rolex, you could get a Submariner, pre-loved within the budget. It would be an older 14060 or even 14060M (2 line model), but a Rolex no less.
-
I will go with Omega between these 2, if you are okay with pre-owned, then Rolex Subs will still within the budget
Just my 38 cents
-
Agreed with most of the brothers' comment here.
If the choice is between Omega and Longines, I would take Omega.
But if Roleks is in the picture, and within your budget, I will go for a pre-owned Roleks.

One more for the omega!

A 14060 Sub is less than 15k and even a brand new Sub is around 15k

If you have a 15k budget then there are ALOT of choices.
Used
16610
16613
16710
16570
New
14060M
And these are just Rolex. Used PLanet Ocean is less than 8K and not to mention a host of Pams to choose from too.
-
Between the 2, i'd go with omega.
-
WOW, I did not expect alot of replies. thanks alot guys!
Yes, you are all right. Budget is about south of 15k. I don't really mind getting a pre-owned Submariner (16610) if it comes complete with the box and other sides. The next question would be where can I get it? I honestly prefer the 16610LV (the maxi dial), but again, I think it would be out from my budget (not sure if people actually selling the LV version pre-owned).
I live in Ampang and the only place I know selling pre-owned Roleks is in Ampang Point, and I have never seen a Submariner in his display. Mostly Oyster Date with what I believe are aftermarket dials.
Seems that the vote is for the Speedmaster :) and none actually mentioned LLD.
-
Since my love affair with the Speedmaster is a failed relationship, having failed to get one a number of times ....
Here is the LLD....

Choose which ever watch that sings to you.

given only 2 options, i vote for omega

bro, i been hunting a submariner few months. with your limited budget of 15k, no way u can get one unless is 14060 sub without date. a sub easily cost u at least 17k now. a sub lv is even worst, don have 18.5k don think about it. thr is alot pre own shop bt the price is on the high side.
-
The 14060 or 14060M is the Submariner. No such thing as Submariner without date. It is either Submariner or Submariner Date. :)
-
Actually it is just as I thought. The ownership cost of a Submariner has increased. But actually, You can still get a new Sub for about 5k USD in North America (Amazon has it).
the LLD with NATO green strap is a beauty. but i have not seen anyone wearing it here in Malaysia yet
-
Now I do miss my LLD after seeing Hobbit's pic :Blue:

1 more vote for omega!
And strongly recommend to take pre-owned Rolex sub if budget allow.
-
+1 Omega

Omega 1st choice
-
+1 Rolex...but i'm biased
-
I would say Rolex but you won't believe until u r too deep inside and realize it is too late :)

bro terrence,
mind to share where to get New 14060M (RM15k?), Local AD in KL?

Bro, I share your Passion & Pain! :'(
The 16610LV with the maxi dial is my grail. :Praying:
Earlier, I was toying with the idea of getting a lower price (not necessary less value) watch to scratch my itch while saving up for the Rolex.
However, I've decided to bear with the itch and wait till I can afford my grail.
Take care, Ciao!

One more vote for omega

Sorry for hijacking the thread but with 15k budget can get a brand new 14060M? Was quoted a price much much higher than that just a few days ago, 14060M no date. Mind PM the AD? Thanks :)
-
my bad...it was what they quoted me last year...round SGD6.5k
maybe the AD knows something we don't by not budging on a RM19k price
