Since there is a post about whats the difference between shipping times i thought i will show mine here.
Fedex was just too expensive for the watch i pay for therefore i choose the "normal" registered post.
Its from Chronopost in France.
Below is the pic that shows how much delay it is. Hopefully will get it today or tomorrow. :Dancing_banana:

If it's from France...
Alain Siberstein?
Emile Pequignet?
;D
-
Two letters for you to guess "HF" :P
-
From my astute observation and deduction, I have come to the conclusion that Peter bought a mail-order French wife and she's held up in quarantine all these months and now getting the clear all to be released.
-
Vous avez la bonne observation mon bon monsieur, mais les mariées vente par correspondance ne sont pas ma chose et probablement à cher pour moi
-
french wife..huh? where to order? i want two.... :Laughing_on_floor: :Laughing_on_floor: :Laughing_on_floor:

-
I did thought about High Frequency but that's about it... lol
Well, gotta wait for the time for the big reveal eh...
-
when i think of bro hanz, all i can think of is a zenith and since zenith is one of the earliest with a high frequency so i guess it might be a zenith.
-
Correct! High Freq it is.
Next clue:
The Observatoire Cantonal de Neuchâtel
-
Freaky?
-
hmm...national observatory, a seiko hi beat?
-

Since Peter mentioned Swiss made, a Seiko is out...
I don't know of any high beat other than Zenith EP... yeah... my horological knowledge is lame...

Read up about takashi's clue from "Uncle Wiki" :
The Observatoire Cantonal de Neuchâtel -
In the past, the Neuchatel Observatory was known as the Observatoire Astronomique et Chronometrique de Neuchatel, in reference to the fact that it participated in assessing and rating Swiss timepiece movements for accuracy. As marine navigation adopted the usage of mechanical timepieces for navigational aid, the accuracy of such timepieces became more critical. From this need developed an accuracy testing regime involving various astronomical observatories. In Europe, the Neuchatel Observatory, Geneva Observatory, Besancon Observatory and Kew Observatory were examples of prominent observatories that tested timepiece movements for accuracy. The testing process lasted for many days, typically 45 days. Each movement was tested in 5 positions and 2 temperatures, in 10 series of 4 or 5 days each. The tolerances for error were much finer than any other standard, including the modern COSC standard. Movements that passed the stringent tests were issued a certification from the observatory called a Bulletin de Marche, signed by the Directeur of the Observatory. The Bulletin de Marche stated the testing criteria, and the actual performance of the movement. A movement with a Bulletin de Marche from an observatory became known as an Observatory Chronometer, and such were issued a chronometer reference number by the Observatory.
The role of the observatories in assessing the accuracy of mechanical timepieces was instrumental in driving the mechanical watchmaking industry toward higher and higher levels of accuracy. As a result, today high quality mechanical watch movements have an extremely high degree of accuracy. However, no mechanical movement could ultimately compare to the accuracy of the quartz movements being developed. Accordingly, such chronometer certification ceased in the late 1960's and early 1970's with the advent of the quartz watch movement
It released a publication regarding the performance of chronometers from 1846 to 1975: Of the of the 4504 certificates awarded in this period, 4324 went to Ulysse Nardin.
So my guess of the mystery box is an UN timepiece?

Takashi, why do you choose to get this model? Any specific reason? It looks so rolex oyster alike.. 39mm?
Wear in good health
-
takashi,
thanks for sharing this vintage precious watch you got. i noticed that there is some stain of glue at the lug on the 1st photo. why ???
-
The first pic about the lug is just reflection from the wall, no worries.
Why did i get it? Dont really know, i like how the dial has aged.
The high freq movement and i rarely see this on the market.
Wanna try and have it serviced since its loosing about few mins per day.
-
Interesting watch. Do tell why this watch.
-
Congrats on the GP.
I guess you have a reason(or none) of getting it.
Sometimes, a sweet piece come calling to you, not because you like the design, or the movement or the brand. It's just make you feel at that point of time you wanna get it.
-
Update, the watch is with my watchmaker now to try to figure out the accuracy and PR issue.
May be time for a routine service as well.
-
Interesting watch. Do tell why this watch.
Because it is GP, just that, I guess....may be it suit for Grand Prix, next time will be "vroom..vroom" :Laughing_on_floor:
Pete, wear for Good health
