Thanks for your reply G.MAC. No, please feel free to suggest as long as it suitable for a dad age around 60. But most important is NEW. other not care. ;)

i'm pretty sure all old men 60 years and above would love a Rolex even if they are not watch lovers. up your budget a little bit more and find a used, but great condition manual winding 6694 or double it for a automatic. many choices out there.

you only have one dad and mine moved on before i could afford him one.

Yup, I second that. Going to share with my siblings for a Rolex for my dad. New. Prob next year. Maybe one for my mum as well.

Get a 14000 Airking or 15000 Date

Simple, robust and bulletproof Rolex. Can be had for quite a bargain in the pre-owned market. 34mm a good size and also it's automatic. Wear and forget.

but think on average both models would run you about +-RM5k.

A 6694 is a "female dog" when it comes to repair and needs to have the crown tube replaced every few years because of the daily winding stripping out the threads.

+100 for the rolex suggestions.

Or maybe you can find an Omega that might suits your dad. A seamaster auto/quartz perhaps..

Another good watch would be the omega AquaTerra cal. 2500.

Price wise, should be around >5K pre-owned

Why not try looking at baume and mercier. They have pretty nice designs and I think its quite porpular among folks at your dad's age.

won't worry about service costs for a gift to a 60+ dad..

Wouldn't it be far easier to get an auto watch for his dad, than one that would not require him to unscrew the tiny twin lock everyday and constantly living with the fear of overwinding and thread stripping?

It's all about practicality. Not that I have anything against 6694, but I would not certainly recommend the watch to a non WIS.

The recommended service interval for a 6694 is around 2-3 years to replace the tube versus 5 years for a 3000, 3035 ..etc auto movement.

If you want to buy BALL, go to Pavilion... better discount than SS2 shop... in my experience...

Since it is for your Dad and it is between RM2K - RM3K.

With that budget you can only get a Tag F1 which is too young for your Dad, and you can't buy any Omega with that budget.

In this case, I guess Longines, Tissot and Oris will be a more sensible choice for your Dad based on your budget.

IMO, at that budget - for a familiar brand divers watch, perhaps you can try the Longines Hydroquest...a bit on the young side, but has the specs for dads...auto...simple to read...

Or have you considered increasing your budget to Maurice Lacroix? but they're more into dress watches though...

I think if you look for tissot, victorinox, you should be able to gt some good value (functionality and looks for that budget). Even for tag F1, thatd be quite a stretch I think... I mean for brands like that, tag, ball, Oris you can find smth with that budget but probably specs not so nice la...

Speaking from a view point of someone who aspires to have nice watches but barely can afford one :) just my two cents worth ya!

For Mido brand, one can find it at some of the watch shop in Sunway Pyramid.
Visodate belongs to Tissot, which can be found in many of the distributor in big shopping complex like Pavillon, Sunway Pyramid, Bangsar Shopping Complex etc.
Orient is found everywhere from small-time watch shop to some watch shops in Sunway Pyramid (Note : Am very familiar with Pyramid as I work nearby only)

Anyway, for your 60 yo dad, maybe brands like Rolex or Titoni is suitable.
Titoni watches ranges from RM1K and above.
