Like to share or voice out how that particular watch attracts you? Or maybe your dream watch.. ;)
You must have seen or read about that watch before..What do you look for when you shop for your watch?

my way is i looking for the classic type, but i want it to be more pilot type.
just cannot explaint out.
is not the brand, i always use to give a change to any brand, i will entertain any brand, style or movement.
but it like my mind is already have a very beautiful watch in it, just try to look on every watch i see in the shop , just look which 1 is the near similar as what the watch is in my mind.
and other then tat, normally the ways i looking for will be, vintage, chornograh, manual mechanical movement.
and leather strap or nato strap. i will put the steel bracelet after observe all above.

Below is my preference............
Design - i always go for classic design. classic dressy watch is my favorite.
Brand - no particular brand, as long as it is good looking.
Movement - for watch over 10k, yes, i prefer in house movement.
Dial - as clean as possible... don't like too complicated design.
Straps - preferred leather. (Since already have 2 metal bracelet)
case materials - i would like to have WG, YG, RG in my collection other than stainless steel. (working on it)
case size - any size from 36mm to 42mm (42mm is max i can accept)
beside that, must have 1 or 2 sport watch too. Can use it for island vacations.

Nothing in particular. I just know what I want and it changes from time to time. I dont stick to a particular style, dial, movement, nor straps. The only thing that is a priority for me is the case size where minimum would be 42mm.

42mm for me already consider BIG watch.

to me, i prefer sporty design watch....so the 1st thing that i will look at the watch is its design
2nd is the material of the watch, like case and bracelet, prefer stainless steel bracelet, look elegant....
3rd is the size, my wrist is small but i think a watch with 44/45mm look good on a man's wrist...so the max size for me is 45mm....
4th is movement, but the problem is i don't really know how to judge a good movement, so actually will go googling some info about the movement of the watch that i want before i buy....

i prefer a swiss movement with a good steel case, the design should be simple.
if it is an expensive watch, i prefer in house movement.

very subjective to personal taste and preferences. and i dun think i can definite a specific type-of-watch i want. as taste and preference change along the line... while we are aging.
but for now, 40-42mm, SS case, simple and prominent, not too complex looking dial will do.
but... recently.. starting to liking radiomir....

the watch diameter size is really important even if the watch is how perfect, if your wrist cannot suit the diameter of the watch,
is really dont force, it make you look really dump.
no kidding. i saw there is some diver watch is very very nice but the big diameter and the big tickness enable them to support the water deep pressure u to 700M-1000M it really killing, 45mm++
it really mean for westen big size people, we asian we have to know how to measure our own body.
plus most of the nice watch is swiss, they build for westen ppl not for asian, unless japanese watch,

You asked, so I'll give you my answer.
Personally I've always had a soft spot for vintage, simple, ageless designs. No preference for any brand in particular but some brands I've always liked include Rolex, Omega, Longines, Glashutte Original and Jaeger-LeCoultre to name a few. Advertising matters little in my case. Movement wise I tend to lean towards manual or self-winding movements preferably but not necessarily in-house and I do try to avoid quartz. Regarding casing shape and material I prefer traditionally rounds shaped cases in stainless steel in keeping with more conservative tastes as some might put it (excess bling isn't exactly my cup of tea). Case sizes anywhere in between 35mm to 42mm. No particular preference for dials. Water resistance is a must since I do spend sometime outdoors. Again, no particular preference for crystal material or screw-in crowns. Choice of straps will be subject to the watch in question.
Now that you've seen my opinion, what's yours?

At this moment I will look into clean dial for two types of watches - dress watch and military.
I am not into current trend or big dials or movement etc.
I would prefer round watch case and must have the 5 (as in Seiko 5).
As for strap, no preferance.

just became a WIS early this year, so can see that my taste changed since then...here's what my "current" preference:
Design - no particular preference as long as it looks good to me
Brand - depends on the price i'm paying. won't matter if it's less than 5k and i really love the design
Movement - agree with bro silverstan on this part...won't accept non in-house for anything breaching the 5 fig.
Dial - prefer something that contrasts well with the hour/minute/seconds hand, must be able to tell time at a quick glance. prefer textured dials, power reserve is a plus point as long as it does not spoil the design ;D
Straps - depends on the purpose of the watch. for daily prefer metal bracelet cos i sweat alot...for dress prefer brown leather (especially if the case is made from precious metals)
case materials - WG would look too close to SS, currently interested in RG or HG or TT
case size - not smaller than 40mm...any bigger than 45mm would need to test on my wrist 1st to see if it looks good on me...must not sit too high on the wrist (DSSD was abit of a turnoff for me :thumbsdown:)
clasp design for leather strap - prefer with a deployant than buckle n tang. must match the case material n color

For me case size a big issue 1st, second brand n value. HA ha

I'd like to have mix types where can use for functions, everyday wear and outdoor as like travelling, swim...
Steel case is ideal and harder than gold which is prone to dings and dents easily. And also ...$
Would prefer the Screw-in Crown for better water resistant
For everyday watch i will like a rubber strap as it last much longer than leather and not as heavy as steel bracelet
Saphire crystal to resist scratch
As for movement,i can't say much as it all depend how much i am paying for the watch. If its expensive,of course i will like an In-house calibre
Shape is more to round or pillow case and also depends on design as some square case are attractive too
Case size prefer 37mm till 46...or maybe 44mm depends on design

I think a person's taste changes over the years, not only because of fashion ( I'm not a fashionista anyway) but rather as one gets older, priorities change.
Anyway I've shared on another thread what I look for in a watch.
I first decide on the complication that I currently desire (different from need) i.e. chrono/dual time/worldtimer/perpetual/rattrapante/tripledate/moonphase/etc. Then it would be the size and shape of case i.e. 36/38/40/42/44mm or rectangular/tortue/cushion/square then the color of dial- silver/white/black/blue/grey,etc).
Finally I google the few brands that I normally admire for any models that meet these parameters. As you need to see the watch in the metal, I'd shortlist the few models and then choose from the shortlisted few when I see them live.

1. swiss made priority, german will be consider, others depends.....
2. it must b establish brand, perfectly with a long history.....
3. price factor will also effect me
4. design
5. others all not so important to me once pass all the above

for me, i would look for brand & model with great history, also, design is a big factor
if i'm looking for a dress watch, the design should be classic, simple & clean dial (no chronograph, no day, no date), smaller & thin case, sapphire crystal & leather strap
if it's for daily use, the design should suit any occasion, with date function (preferable with day), higher water resistance, sapphire crystal & steel bracelet
if it's for leisure time, the design should be sporty/funky, larger case, sapphire crystal & rubber/leather strap
