Orange! Such a invigorating color that bring back my memory of :

An out of this world goal scored by Dennis Bergkamp is his Netherlands playing time. At the peak of their success in the 1970s, Netherlands soccer team is famous for their mastery of total football and hence, nicknamed Clockwork Orange (Oranje or Netherlands) for their precision passing.
‘Clockwork Orange’ (Clock work = The mechanism of a clock, Orange = National Color of Netherlands)
A helluva nick that symbolize the much talk about, Seiko ‘Orange Monster’. Being one of the lucky few to own this ‘Dennis Bergkamp’ Netherlands 1998 World Cup Jersey, I figure out that I need to have the Seiko ‘Orange Monster’ to fully justify Netherlands iconic name ‘ Clockwork Orange’.
However, I was struggling to overcome my psychological resilience in having a Seiko watch. I have never owned a Seiko watch before and I have always dislike the ‘Seiko’. Fault is on their mass marketing efforts that has cemented such a unusual thinking on a watch enthusiastic. I dislike the fact that whenever I walk in any watch shop, I could find ‘Seiko’ watch occupying the biggest section in their display with the most number of watches and the most number of new models compared to other brands. I have the naive thinking that the popularity of their watch is based on their marketing efforts rather then their quality.
Fascinated by this orange monster as it would be a perfect match for my Netherlands ‘Dennis Bergkamp’ jersey, I started doing research on this specific watch. I received many positive feedback on this watch and after much consideration, I decided to break this barrier of mine and gamble on my first Seiko watch, the ‘Orange Monster’.
Summary
‘Orange monster’, a magnificent orange dial timepiece as though was made for Netherlands soccer team. It was a timepiece that has gain much fame due to it’s unique color and a quality build that cost more than it does. I was very impressed by the bezel marking that is engraved onto the bezel unlike most diver watch where the marking is printed onto the bezel. Rotation of the bezel was smooth with a touch of class. Additionally, The handsome-looking dial marking portrait a ‘Shark Tooth’ look alike, an aggressive looking design which add to the toughness look you would want to see in a dive watch. The lume is so powerful that it glow brightly under moderate ambient light. It has the best lume I ever encountered in a watch and I have even tried comparing the lume to a ‘Rolex Submariner’ whose luminousness is no way near the powerful ‘Orange Monster’ lume. One interesting finding was, when the hour hand and second hand of the watch lines up, it will form a very cool looking ‘Rocket’ shape.
How could I have abandon this wonderful Japan Watchmaker ‘Seiko’ in my watch collection all this while. For such an affordable price, I could easily give this watch a 10/10 in terms of look & quality. This watch is definitely a keeper and if you are a ‘Clockwork Orange’ Netherlands soccer fans, please do not hesitate, run down to the nearest Seiko Authorized Dealer store and grab one before it’s discontinued. Wearing my ‘Dennis Bergkamp’ Netherlands jersey with the ‘Orange Monster’ sitting on my wrist, I typed this review. Need i say more?

Seiko is a good brand and can be said to be on par with the Swiss watch manufacturer.
All one find in a Seiko time piece is made and produced by using Seiko's own technology.
Some Swiss manufacturer uses other companies products and modified or put some addition and called it their own. Seiko is original in that sense.
Cheeers.

Watchnewby,
It would have cost us a bomb if they are a Swiss watch manufacturer. We are fortunate Seiko are priced in such a affordable price with the top-notch quality of their watch. I'm looking forward to get my hand of their GS when the day comes! Still waiting :(

Chrisyen,

Seiko monster is the best of Seiko for me too, totally agree with you! For their quality and uniqueness, it is definitely a steal with their affordable price.
I heard that Seiko Frankenmonster has better lume than orange monster. How true is that? You have any idea?

Watchmanu,
OMG, you must be kidding me!

bro bergkamp,
cheer up! bro. the team that i supported since 1990, MU just been whacked by MC 1-6 :Startled: on sunday but life go on. It's just a soccer game. No matter what the score is, the most important is the team that we support always will bring back the good memories. For example, winning the EPL 19 times! :Dancing_banana: :Dancing_banana: :Dancing_banana:

Spain too good la, I also support the orange, all my frens took advantage of me, so I ate half ball :Blue:, and if they manage drag until Penalty, then may be it will be different...

I saw a Black Monster in City Chain couple of months ago, they quoted me RM 8XX after some puny discount.
Can get cheaper price in S'pore though...

Meoramri,
Mine do comes with the metal bracelet.
I bought a aftermarket rubber strap and switch it occasionally.
I like the feel of metal bracelet sometimes as it feels more secure on my wrist and it brings out a different look compared to the rubber strap.
I like the Rubber strap too as it's more suitable for sports wear.
Hope to see you adding this 'Monster' to your collection. :)

I owned a seiko monster, like chris said its the best seiko had to offer at that price (of cos there are higher priced seiko diver that are awsome too). I had mine running slow and ask the service center (not the one in KL) to tweak the watch and now it run damn accurate just losing milisecond over 2/3 days depending on the position of the watch.....
Cant recommend more
*Bergkamp: do you bought it from Davis?
-
i do agree on the consistency of the seikos. you do need to know a good watchmaker to adjust the watch out from the box. think this maybe due to the production line methods of production. but once adjusted..it's a very ...very good watch for it's value..bar none

Mine was running fast by 3 hours a day when I first got it! Sent it back to the shop and now it is as accurate as can be.

Gigi,
I got mine from an Oversea AD.
I believe the price varies and reasonable price would be around RM6++
Anyone in MWF happen to own those limited edition Blue, Red, Yellow, Night or Snow 'Monster'??
