now that i mention the brand in the previous posting, i would really like to know...any Malaysian or preferably someone among us members of MWF own an urwerk ? kindly put up your picture...would be fun ..or anyone seen it before with your own eyes ? share your thought....cheers
-
Urwerk? Only saw it on photos... never seen it in the flesh...
Any AD selling in Malaysia?
The watches have a unique way of telling time... must cost a bomb though...
-
Had a friend who has the watch. He got it from the AD in Lot10. Cost him RM112K, paid cash. Sigh......
-
paid cash ???????? like real duit kertas ?????? seriously....who carry 112k in cash ? seriously???
i am sure the sales exec felt excited counting every piece whilst in the same time scared like shit that someone with pump gun would suddenly pop him on his head for the money....aiyoo....
went to graham AD last year at starhill, not that i want to buy, but the sales exec insist on no cash ...she said better use card...unless really buyer dont have any other mean (obviously what matter is getting the sales)
again seriously cold hard cash ? now that i think about it, the most cash i ever carry in my bag is about 50k....that is from my old office to the bank...and yes, sadly it aint mine....hahahahh
-
Yes, I was with him at the time. He looked at the watch, liked it and made a call. 2 guys came like 30 minutes later with a bag and there was RM112 k in the bag. The AD had to close the shop. Insane.
-
you are lucky to witness...and i wonder who the two guy ? bankers ? or bodyguard....insane dude....
-
Your friend is loaded. with bodyguard somemore :Startled:
zitan,
Not bodyguard, but I believe they were bankers.
-
personal banker...wow that is even wicked.....damn

it is no fun counting 112k cash because our dang gomen got rid of those 500 and 1000 notes.
anyway, sometimes people don't own cards for one reason or another. debit cards can't do anything above RM5k. and unless the shop owner knows the buyer well, they won't take cheques. so in the end, cash is still the only choice for some.
-
The best part about cash is that there is no trace. Nothing to link it back to you.

How about his one, Urwerk UR-110 ZrN Torpedo Watch? Price? TBA but I am sure it will more then RM112K. 12 pieces and it has a Zicronium Nitride ceramic coating which gives it a case a champagne-colored finish and incredible hardness.

Err... way too busy looking for me. Although I can appreciate the tech, I can't get the aesthetics (if there is any!). Sorry lah, but doesn't it look a bit too ugly? Just my 2 cents, don't want to offend anyone.. :D
-
Doesn't "werk" for me...
-
Hobbit, i think price will at least be double that.
-
Ok back to the main interest, since you have seen it with your eyes, care to share, how does it look in real life ? the feel of it, is it worth 112k, if you have such money, would u yourself buy it or you would go for something more sensible like high end patek, or tourbilion jaeger...tell us your experience...at your own word describe the watch for us please...(i am drooling now)

mnazri.tan,
I have to say that the watch that my friend bought is very pretty and looks good. There was a good feel to the watch and it does ooze quality. Technically, the movement is just awesome. Is it worth RM112K? Perhaps, from a technical point of view. As a watch, I have a hard time to justify the price of many of the watches we have in the market, be it PP, AP, JLC, Panerai and Rolex for the matter (but that is a different story). Would I buy it if I have the money? I don't think so as I have this great fear of after sales service and the support the brand can provide. I would rather go along the line of 'safety' and get the 'easy' to move brands in case I have to move the watch in the future.

To be honest, my friend does not even wear the watch as he is (last time we met) wearing a gold AP ROO and alternating it with a Piaget Polo 45 (gold and stones).

Your friend sure does like bling! Perhaps one day when I'm at that age and with the money to match, I will appreciate these bling pieces more. Saw a diamond encrusted Rolex in the flesh once. Was the price of a house..

Hellkite,
Not sure what age you talking about as my friend is only 41.
-
Age does not determine if you like bling or not.
Its the personality.

Had lunch at a club yesterday (in Ipoh lah) & saw a Merc C-class with a couple hundreds of faux diamonds glued all over the body! :Startled:
Was told the owner is a lady who runs a boutique.
Regreted not taking pix of it.
BTW, I thought it was over-done and ugly....
Take care, Ciao!

Well, power to your friend, thehobbit. Sorry, I thought he was over 50. A very successful chap then. Note to self: Must work harder!! :p
TheHobbitt, your friend must have a great collection of various pieces I believe? Would be nice to see some pics, since you don't get to see these very often. Cheers!

someone i know, i guess he is approaching 50 if not early 40, look young though....baggy jeans, rugged shirt, pointy LV shoes, LV Belt,Drive a Hummer and X6, the hummer come with 22 chrome wheel, and on his wrist, Corum, ROlex SeaDweller and a few others XL size, so flashy doesn't come with age...it is the character...but another person, about 60, alternating between Seiko Premier, IWC Big Pilot and Tissot Touch...Drive a rover, own a factory but meet him on the road side, not much different than other old man...not flashy at all...under the radar dude....hehehhe
