I just entered a dilemma. Whilst i was moving around after dinner, i spotted a watch which i fancy and the price is really good. Problem is, i know i wont wear it very frequently. I keep on wearing the same few watch over and over again eventhough i have more on rotation. Hence everytime i see something i like, i would always leave the shop first and then return later if the itch is intense to prevent myself from making a rash decision. The question is would it be wise to buy it because it is there, you like it and it is very reasonably priced even if you are not going to wear it as much as some of your other watches? I still think about it after 2 hours leaving the shop and am at home. Just want to hear out a general consensus on the matter. If all say go for it, then I know what to do.
-
I also have the same dilemma... that's why I have made up my mind that if I buy any new piece, I will let go of some redundant one lying around.
A person only have 2 wrists and can only wear 1 watch at a time...
I used to keep a number of watches for collection and later figured out no point lah.... (this is my own opinion k?)
So, if you spot one that you like but you "know" that you won't be wearing... then buy for what bro?
If you buy the watch, make sure it will be part of the rotation... if not... I would advice don't bother...
But if buying the watch can invoke some sort of self satisfaction aka shiokalingam... then it's your money bro...

syok memang syok la. Only thing is money is not unlimited plus my usual dealer bringing in some more in a few days time so a little bit worried if it happens to be something interesting then the recent purchase will be forgotten again. Hence i am following your style only in my case i do a major purge except for those on the rotation or those in the safe.

Do u Mind sharing what is the watch in question here? :)

I cant find a model number nor a picture. I know it is the seiko which is in collaboration with FC Barcelona. It is the non-chrono one.

I was looking at the same watch as well. Was torn in between the rubber strap and the bracelet. Decent price with good discount. Such a dilemma.
Live is short...buy it :D

I know which 1 you talking about. But I haven't seen the non-chrono version

Tend to agree with Bro Hanz's comment above.
If the watch sings to you but you know you will rarely wear it, you can buy it for show (ie. "Hey! I have a FC Barcelona LE watch, U know?). After all it is cheap and feel "shiok" about being the owner of it.
Just my 2 cents worth of opinion.
Cheers.

is that a quartz?....
pls share if got pictures...

If money is not an issue, buy the watch. Saves you the stress of thinking of it.
Otherwise, walk away or sell some of your stocks to make the fund for it.
Of course by posting here, you try to find some justifications for the actions you are gonna to take.
And many have been very helpful to persuade and as well as to reason.

We all face the same problem here la, here is the scenario
1) Love at first sight, then bring it home, after a while, send her to the "Cold Palace", let it rot, then after that decided to sell it off, cause the wrist does not like it, sound familiar
2) Love at first sight, then bring it home, continue love it, after a while, somebody commented some problem of it, then send it to "Cold Palace", may be will come, may be not....let's faith decide
3) Love at first sight, then bring it home, continue love it, after a while, somebody commented some problem of it, get it fixed, or make over, still in Love, always there on the wrist
Well, if your dilemma is first scenario, then don't torture it, let it get a good home, once a while, just go and visit it.
Just my 28 cents
P/S : Love is not to own it, but to embrace it

I saw the models recently, both the chrono & normal pieces.
They are nice looking pieces but that's all to me - just nice.
So they are not on my watch list, pun intended. ;)
BTW, I love watching Barca play since the days of Ronaldinho & Samuel Eto - Viva Barcelona!
Take care, Ciao!

same here just rotate a few of them, i have about 20 of them, think of buying another, now have second thought.
maybe sell some that buy.....ha..
-
LOL no one is as slow as me when finally buying a certain watch.
Took me 10yrs and then one day the stars and moon and planets align correctly and i finally bought it.
Only to sell it less than 2yrs later.
Well....at least the fund went to one of my grail watch which is ok.
-
if you still think about it 3 months from now, then buy it. impulse buying is always bad.

Wow... 10 freakin years?!? That's mental man....
I can't even be in courtship for 10 years let alone wait 10 years to finally buy a watch... and then sell it 2 years later?
Salute

guess i might have to follow bro siodee's advice since it is highly likely to be the first scenario. I made the same mistake for 5-6 watches already but sometimes certain lessons are really hard to be learnt. Also will take into account bro dpkong's advice of waiting. If still very itchy then habis la.. :Laughing_on_floor:

G.Mac, at least you are better than me one one thing... is that you think before purchasing.... which is good enough...
As for me, I don't think for like 5 minutes ahead... I dive in head first... and then 3 months (if lucky) later... I sell it...
Syiok or not? Syiok...
Worth it or not? Worth it... (for me lah)
Will I do it again? I hope not but what the hell la...
-
depends on the situation also. If it were to be a brand outside of my current focus which is rolex or panerai for now, i can still think. If cun cun it is rolex or panerai with a reasonable price tag then siap la. Memang i buy first and think of the payment later. Provided there is no premium to the price. Syok? Wah syok betul. Worth it? Find of the century!!. Will I do it again? Without a doubt..but luckily the price bracket a bit stiff so cant really afford impulse purchase.

i dont have such dilemma, if i like, and i need it, and i can afford it...i buy...
if i like , i can afford it, but dont feel the need, i would walk away...i believe other opportunity will arise maybe for other thing...life is like that...
if i like , and i need it, but cant afford it....i feel sad, but work hard so hopefully someday i can get it
if i dont like it, well that is the easiest, wouldnt buy anything with no interest no matter how good the deal is (unless i am convince i can get profit out of it...but that will make me like it...)
ahh...life is simple with me...hahah
-
bro nazri,
the main problem most of the time is that we never need it. I highly doubt there are any here without a single watch.
-
the definition of need differs for everyone...
like for me, i already have a Zenith Daytona but i still need a panda dial with the Rolex movement....
:HammerHead: :HammerHead:

Huh? There is such a watch? Franken or Ori?

PAM00072 or PAM00074.
The watch. Evil yes? Still trying to justify the price to get the PAM00072 (comes with the metal bracelet instead of the leather strap).

Wow... how much are those going for?
Seems like only the rotor has been changed... I can even see the Zenith Caliber 400? etched on the movement...

hanz079,
The PAM00074 (with leather strap) goes for between RM18 to 23K condition dependent, while the PAM00072 (with the titanium/ ss bracelet) is about RM 20 to 28k, again condition dependent. The movement is the 400z. The differences between the 400 and the 400z can be seen below:

The 400z is similar to the previous EP HW that I have equipped with a 420z...
At that kind of price... I will have to pass...
I would rather drop that kind of money on a Striking 10th or an EP Winsor Annual Calendar.
It was an eye opener for me though...
So that means PAMs used Zenith, JLC, Rolex and ETA movements and only until recently gone in house?

Don't forget Minerva and Angelus. The Rolex movement is the Rolex 618 Cortebert ebauche based movements.

Wow! I learn more and more new things everyday.
Thanks The Hobbit, Hanz and the rast for an insightful knowledge.
Cheers.
