Title: Magrette Regattare Bronze
Post by: jacky8888 on September 29, 2011, 10:36:11 AM
Just bought this last week and today it arrived from New Zealand......

The Reggattare Vintage Bronze features the Miyota 21 Jewel Automatic Movement.
It has a 45 hour reserve and uses 'Parashock' - its own proprietary shock resistance on the balance.
The Miyota has a track record of accuracy, dependability and longevity; three characteristics that Magrette timepiece wearers have whole-wristedly embraced.

This timepiece will be a Limited Edition of 1000 pieces worldwide.
Specs from Magrette web site...

Model: Reggattare Vintage Bronze
Movement: 21 jewels (Miyota) Automatic
Case: Bronze, brush finish, 44mm excluding the crown. (Magrette uses CuSn8 bronze. It is an alloy of copper & tin which is resistant to corrosion.)
Crown: Screw down
Crystal: Sapphire, AR (anti reflective) coated inside the crystal
Water-resistance: 5 ATM (approx 132ft)
Strap: 24mm Leather (black with black stitching)
Box: Eco pine
Vintage Style Roll Case: Canvas
Limited Edition: 1000 pieces

it comes with a Eco Pine Box....

there is a canvas roll case & waranty card inside the box...

comes with extra rubber strap and spare set of spring bars.....

and now the watch front view...

back view.....

simple two hands & brown dial in Bronze case....

wrist shot....

Pros
1) It is really a bang for bucks with this bronze case (really looking forward for tha patina to develop)
2) OEM strap is really soft and comfortable (I would prefer brown colour strap and a bronze buckle)

Cons
1) Crown not bronze (looks weird)
2) Buckle not bronze (another sigh)
3) Strap not brown (sigh... sigh....)
4) Water resistant 50 meters

Overall I am quite satisfied with this watch....
It is the cheapest Bronze case watch to date....
Have been a bronze fan for quite some time but just could not fork out the cash to buy Anonimo, Helson, Zenton, Benarus, Ennebi and the renowned PANERAI..
This will have to do for the moment...
Sorry for the crappy photos from my PNS camera....

Thanks for watching.....
Cheers Bros...

Nice piece there bro. Just want to ask out of curiousity how does bronze feel on the wrist? Is it as heavy as steel or light like titanium?
Title: Re: Magrette Regattare Bronze

Shipping was fast also.
Yeah really too bad the points you made of the various part not being bronze. If not would have been great.

It would be cool to take one photo every week or month in the same position to see the gradual bronze case patina developing.
A sturdy looking timepiece you have there.... enjoy it...  ;D

i plan to do that .. on a weekly basis... so can compare the development of the patina....
i read somewhere... we can even expedite the patina effect..
by zipping the watch with hard boiled eggs in a bag and then shake it thoroughly..
but i would prefer the natural way....

And make sure no one touches the case of your watch on Saturday haha...might rub off your patina.

Nice, handsome looking watch.
I like the unique case back, but wonder if it can hold up to our moist / wet whether?
Congrats & wear in good health.
Take care, Ciao!

Dear Jacky....cant wait for the patina to start building....do send us pic....
some advice...maybe you should send your crown to plate it with something that is brownish....rose gold perhaps or gold itself...

change the strap...and the buckle ...rose gold buckle might blend in ...dont know but the existing one look but weird...

now i am tempted to get a bronze watch as well....aiyaaa...poison la u...

I am curious on one thing. Do ALL bronze cases achieve patina in that manner? Even for the Bronzo and the Anonimo Bronze Polluce?
Title: Re: Magrette Regattare Bronze
Post by: jacky8888 on January 06, 2012, 10:46:30 AM
i believe they all will have the same patina effect because they all use the same bronze material which is CuSn8.
but how true... we'll have to see some Bronzo Pam owner to post their pictures in time....

Looking at the picture, the wood is behind a glass piece. Am I right or it is actually wood touching the skin?

Just wondering, how long would it take for this watch to completely turn to green, by any chance can we avoid that (though I dont know why any one wanted to avoid that?)

With the special formulation in the materials used, I don't think it suppose to go all the way green.

Is this brass or bronze? The one they are offering now is brass and there was a major recall on Benarus as well.
