It is out and it is a Special Edition 2,000 pieces for boutiques only. Retail is Euro 3,400. Brown dial, gold hands, and painted dial. 44 mm and base design.
And yes, it is already on the pre-love market and yes at a higher price. Sigh......

already in pre-loved market? last i heard, even ADs did not know much about it. If I can find one at MSRP, i might get one. This is the cheapest SE thus far. However i wonder what the OP caliber I movement is. Any ideas?

G.MAC,
Check out your nearest boutiques. The watch will only be sold in boutiques. So countries without the boutiques 'will not' be getting it. Also I believe it is not the cheapest SE as that distinction belongs to the PAM00367 (no SE box, no extra strap, no screw driver). As for the OP I, it is the ETA/ Unitas 6497 movement without the swan neck regulator (same movement in the PAM0000 Base Logo). The case back of the PAM00390 is the 'piggy'.
-
I take back what I said about the PAM00390 not being the cheapest SE as it is since it comes with the large SE box.

Feeling the itch on this one. Put my name down for it but might wait some time for it. The 390 with brown dial and gold hands, it's a winner especially with the reasonably pricing imo.

Alice,
I don't think so, but you will never know. At the moment, the wait list for the watch is loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong.

Heard from another forum that the queue for 390 at the beverly hills boutique already reaches 200++.
-
Is this limited to 2000 pieces a series or total production numbers? If only 2000 then very hard to see it new. May have to look at the pre-loved market although i am more into PAM372.

G.MAC,
It is a special edition run of only 2,000 pieces. At least it does come with the large Special Edition case, unlike the PAM00366 and PAM00367. I too like the PAM00372, but short a couple of bucks..... ;D so this is an interesting option I guess. Lots of difference between the two models, most obvious are the movement and the case. Also the PAM00390 has a painted dial (brown) as opposed to the sandwich (black) on the PAM00372.
-
gulp.....
-
What do you think abt Pam 367?
-
Nice watch. I like it. Cheap (by Panerai SE standards) and good.

I love reading posts regarding PAMs and all the model numbers and "PAM languages" floating around...
But unfortunately until now... I still dun get the PAM allure... :HammerHead:

For the PAM it's either you love it or hate it, no middle ground. However recently I have change my view and am in the love it camp now, in the midst of doing more research before pulling the trigger.

I'm in the same boat with hanz079 on Panerai.
Having said that, I'm targeting at least owning 1 model just to experience the love so many of our Forumers feel for pam.
Take care, Ciao!

I know about the love/hate relationship of Panerai. Those who hate panerai would say the following; "it is not a rolex, it is too big, it is too simple, handwind only?, i lose money if i buy it, so expensive? I might as well buy Rolex". Those who love panerai will say; "sandwich dial wo.., 44mm is just nice, i can fit many straps to this watch, simplicity is the beauty of it, lose money? ever heard of fiddy?, it is versatile in style". So to truly know if you love or hate it, you must buy one. If you love it, you will buy another one. If not, you can always cut losses and sell it or trade it in for a rolex.
-
sorry to the PAM lovers but i've looked at and tried a few PAMs but i just cannot like it. oversized and weird contraption attached to the crown.
-
what attracts me the most is the simplicity of the watch..... 2 hands.... and the crown guard...
-
just received a piece for "safekeeping" before i pass it on to its new owner.
it's a beautiful piece.
gold hands + tobacco dial = killer combo. ALL THE DNA you want. but still lacking a bit, maybe the modern crown guard should be replaced with an A series, would make it feel better.
but all in all, even at premium prices, KILLER PAM!
-
gold hands+tobacco dial+modern crown guard= PAM351?
-
u forgot to mention 1950 case+3daymovement+date = 351
this is not the same, it's a pre-v case+base dial+ a logo design dial with missing logo of course = winner pam 390
-
Will there be significant difference in price if we are to get a Panerai from Italy?
-
the PAM 390 is a special edition. u need to be waitlisted, very rare to be sitting in the boutique unwanted.
best call ahead.
and yes, if u do buy from europe, it's cheaper due to vat refund and better euro exchange.
but usually, just make sure there's a watch reserved for u, price comes second, which is usually the case with special editions.
