welcome to the forum. Not too sure about the victorinox as am not a familiar with the brand. Have you considered a seiko or an orient since you are new to watch collecting. I think a mechanical watch is a good way to start when collecting watches. If quartz is what you want, then citizen has a few interesting pieces with the eco-drive movement. Just my 2 cents.

Welcome to MWF, gavinx.
No comment on the Victorinox but from the website, the specs is :
-Swiss-made quartz chronograph movement (ETA 251.272)
-Chronograph with 30-minute, 60-second and 1/10th of a second precision
-Telemeter scale
-Date calendar
-44mm stainless steel case (316L)
-Screw-in caseback
-Water resistant to 100M (10ATM, 330 FT)
-Scratch-resistant, triple-coated anti-reflective sapphire crystal
-Luminous hands and hour markers
-Oversized 30-minute chronograph subdial
-Brown leather strap with cream contrast stitching
-Engraved 125th Jubilee caseback
-“Jubilee Edition” indicated on the dial
-Cream-colored highlights of the telemeter scale and 30-minute chronograph subdial
Picture also from Victorinox website.

IMHO, if you like it, go for it.
(Please note: you do not own a watch to please the people around you, you wear a watch because it PLEASES You! and make you a happy person.)

Edit: To attach pictures.

Welcome!

Target pieces that pleases your heart. Don't get caught with the other people's dreams and fantasy. Otherwise, you start to buy watches because of what other people say.

hey.. if you like the watch, go for it.

but personally, i prefer mechanical watches. quartz need batteries to work and these batteries sometimes leak.

maybe you'd want to learn a bit more about the differences before you commit. at the end of the day, it's your watch and your decision.

I guess is that most SA at the AD are not well informed. Or they may be new at the AD.
What I would do is get print-out from the net on the Swiss army model and showed it to them and inquire if that model is available or not.
