What's your take?
Generally expensive and fine mechanism....apart from that...its just another watch???
-
I don't think they add much functional or persisting aesthetic value to me, but your mileage may vary.

saw a Zenith Tourbillion at Pavillion for RM164,900 before discount. Even after 25% off, it's still a little sum. If you can afford it, why not? It sure is pretty though.
-
Why not, if you can afford it, at least some of us will envy, then you can come out GTG and let us moles, and go home dream about it ;D
-
i will probably end up taking a car loan to pay for one.....
was chatting with my CEO this morning.....was talking about watches and he is planning to get 1 for himself....
of coz he can afford lar....
i'm just wondering why is it so bloody expensive to own 1?
actually its way out of my league....
-
Get a Seagull one if you don't mind.
-
Tourbillion never really got to me.... yet...
But I am still dreaming for a minute repeater.

IMHO, yes. Somehow the huge premium 2 me is not justifiable.

Well, in the olden days, a tourbillon watch is a watch with a mechanism to cancel the negative effect of gravity on the watch movement. Since the 19th century, it has become a modern luxury watchmaking 's most prized possession.
My guess is that a tourbillon watch consist of more complex mechanism, hence the dearer price.
-
generally not a fan cos it occupies a good portion of the dial...however, the astrotourbillon got me salivating :Praying:
-
Not into tourbillon...... yet I am more down to earth guy... If u know the cost basis to service a watch I dare u will into it unless u are freaking rich like some of our PP collector here..
-
Yes, Seagull, Poljot also have tourbillon.
-
Yes, seagull and poljot do have tourbillon too.
From feedback their movement is "rougher" as compared with Swiss counterpart, hence the disparity in prices.
-
In between tourbillion and minute repeater, i rather go for minute repeater.
-
I know someone, Local Malaysian man who collects mostly PP watches and he owns almost 80 PP's :Startled:
Atleast 15 of his PP's collection having a Tourbillon Movement and believe it or not, as what he told me a service cost for it would be around 50K since most of the complicated movements will be send direct to Swiss :Startled:
I would't mind getting a Tourbillon watch if im a uber rich guy who is willing to pay for amount of atleast 2 Rolex for service cost!
( Service cost i stated is what had been told by the owner and im not sure about other brand service cost for a tourbillon movement )
-
Toubillons are a symbol of watchmaking skill. Not many can make it. Which is why some independent watchmakers like Hajime Asaoka built his first production watch with a tourbillon... As if to say,"Hey, I can do this".
As the Tourbillon was created by Breguet, shouldn't we go for that brand when it comes to this movement? :D
-
Only for those who are very rich if I at their statue I would love to own one.
