This small fish is extinct in peninsular Malaysia I guess…. I caught this once when I’m small. The stomach is yellow, it has a thin layer of orange fat in the stomach that’s bring a unique flavor to this fish. Small but great, steamed in plum sauce bit wasted to me….
Wild caught catfish…. Crunchy meat! Yummy
(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o210/yenfoolun/ab966396.jpg)
Maybe after vege dinner the night b4, my boss cant resist this knuckle cook with the sour shan jar, the sourness of the san jar fruit sauce really make this oily knucle so light…. Great combination, remind me of the double plum knuckle in hongkong home cook I ate last time…
(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o210/yenfoolun/bf69685a.jpg)
Chili tree leave…. In soup! Now only I know it taste so good
(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o210/yenfoolun/IMG_6705.jpg)
The great looking of this pumpkin with 3 wonders… actually taste good!
This is simple yet good. I will recommend this to my mum. The jit gua steam with fried garlic…
(http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o210/yenfoolun/a5ba77bb.jpg)
Whats this? Guess….. my second taste of pucuk keladi
1st time in Kelantan, cook in salted fish curry
This one fermented naturally before pan fry…. Sour…. I dun like!
After the super heavy lunch, while others back to hotel n rest, I walked 2 hours around the hotel

Love these small fish… ate 3! No bone… the meat is so sweet, jus little too oily, otherwise perfect!

For those who use to eat Chinese food, these are normal ingredient if I’m not wrong, most Cantonese chef will add the lizard in their forever boiling stock!

All looks good...until the last 2nd & 3rd pictures...which has shown the tortoise shell and the gulp....body....then I lost my appetite...not for everyone to stomach, I think....

Nice pics of food and the surrounding, Chrisyen. Thanks for sharing.
Until the very last few pictures, made me felt cheesy (like David said "then I lost my appetite...not for everyone to stomach, I think") and sick. I guess I am not be made by sterner stuff.

Chrisyen: I really solute you for being able to seeing it (ie. the cicak) and then putting the soup in the mouth and swallowing it thereafter. I hope there was no chewing, if you say so, i will feel very uneasy :P
-
I had a similar experience once.
Drink the soup and tasted like any ordinary lotus root soup.
Until my friend unveil the main ingredient. BAT !!!

@DC - who said chinese eat anything with 4 legs?
no leg (worms), 2 legs (bird), 8 legs(spider), 10 legs(crab).... many legs (insects)...... + 3rd leg
-
Nothing wrong with eating those things as they are cooked and not poisonous. If they are alive then a bit too 'extreme'.

Aiyo...chris...to much info for me hahah :Laughing_on_floor:
