Title: Reading material recommendation

Was asked this by my cousin.
"Do you have a recommendation on a good book for beginners on watch history, design/construction?"

The ones i usually read or have read are pretty specific to brands or focuses on independent watchmakers.

Does anyone have any recommendation?
