Title: The British Master- Graham Swordfish Lefty
Post by: ckng515 on August 11, 2009, 04:01:41 PM
good day!
Been so buys for the past few weeks..
finally got some time to shoot and would like so share a rare catch..may be not everyone cup of tea.. ;)
some might dislike the magnifier glass on a rollie; how about a pair on a swordfish? ;D

The Graham Chronograph swordfish Lefty.A little bit of Graham background.
A British brand but Swiss made.founded by perhaps best known as the “father of the chronograph”, George Graham (1673-1751) He was also the brains behind inventions such as the dead-beat cylinder escapement, the first wall chronograph and the mercury pendulum.
The first impression of mine about this watch was the case is surprisingly well built and it's heavy and that's why you will not feel the rotor wobbling..
The case size is 46mm and houses an automatic calibre G1710,water resistant to 160 feet (50 metres).
Obviously,this fish can't swim.. :-\

Good taste you both have .

I remember reading from a magazine the case design come from the artwork of school kid. Both iconic design ( sword fish and the other one with big pushing lever ) from Graham looks really great !

Am just wondering, how "big" does it sit beside a pam ?
Anyway, enjoy !

Here's a quick and dirty shot

Swordfish = 46mm
PAM = 44mm

Hi Ck,

The very first time i saw  swordfish, I was thinking " OMG" ... it looks like a big gold fish staring at me!!! i thought thats the ugliest watch i ever seen in my life.

Now, I must admit and agree with your taste! Its  definately a unique and awesome piece. Considering the design was a "brainchild" of a school boy.

hahaaha...so did u see the Graham alarm (one big eye only)? that one is a little weird and imbalanced..

i've always wanted to get the BMs (i personally like the Chronofighter RAC) but the resale value is really bad (in the event if i want to flip it)..that's what preventing me from pulling the trigger....nonetheless, to the owners here....really nice pieces indeed!

CK, hope you get a good resale value. Graham is not well appreciated by many in the watch community and thus, the lower resale value.
I am thinking of flipping mine to finance a new watch but the unique look of the swordfish is somehow infleuncing me subliminally from doing so.

James, did you check out the pre-own outlets? I know a few in SG are carrying some rather impressive chronofighters with reasonable price.

Lilpronaz,
Luckily, i was able to acquire this piece with a very good price, and i was very satisfy with the resell price as well.
I was struggling for a while whether to flip this unique piece..but at the end of the day,i can't resist the PAM virus ;D ;D

cheers,
ck

thanks bro...yes i'm aware of that but i've tossed all my $$ to pay for my grail (for now...) which will arrive this 2 weeks...can't wait to get my hands on it..unfortunately, i've to eat grass and smell air after this....chronofighter RAC has to really wait.....

I’ve to eat grass and smell air after this....LOL  :Laughing_on_floor:

I like this phrase, something same as 'tighten the belt’???..

Once upon a time I did that, Its a long way from home... Preferred to acquire the holy grail and then eat bread and butter there after. Sacrificed for the sake of a good time piece.

After all, It’s a diseases and there is no known cure.......

I couldn't agree more. The PAM fever is really infectious. I have been calling the ADs every now and then just to check whether the piece I wanted have arrived.

Fortunately for me, my finances have allowed me to hold on to my collection. Well....until next year when my budget allows the aquisition of the BP  ;D

ABSOLUTELY on NO CURE part!

May I add that it is certainly a gratifying passion. Worth it to replace solid food with grass and air ;)

Scott, you don't have to sell the BP to me. I was already sold 3 years ago.

Anyway, I bit the bullet and bought it today!!!  The lady wasn't happy though since she didn't get a watch. ;D

Now, I may have to sell the Swordfish to keep the lady happy. If anyone is interested, PM me.
