Hi Guys,
Not a very popular brand but I'm kinda attracted to their design plus they are quite affordable. I'd like to know if anyone here in MWF owned/owns/have friends or family who own any Orient autos to give some feedback here?
Thanks!
-
I owned an Orient Hogrider or Mako II before. Build-wise, it is solid and well-built. Movement, reliable but i like my watch with hack and handwind features and these my orient did not have. Also the lack of lume was the main reason i sold it off. If it had seiko's lume then it would be a keeper. Great watch as a daily beater in my opinion.

Orient one of the lesser known jap brand after Seiko and Citizen. In actual fact is a sub company of Seiko now (a bought over a few years back). Not back on the quality and value for money. Look at their JDM model at least different from their international model. Btw i am wearing a Orient 3 Star as my everyday watch. Hope you find something you like.
-
I have a few Orients in my collection. Excellent value for money and very reliable thus far.

I own one Orient automatic diver watch with date. self winding, non hacking. Its rotor wobbles alot, which sometimes is fun to hear and feel. Sometimes I just like to shake it and feels its wobbling. Its power reserve last about 40 hours. It's lume is really weak, nothing to shout about. The built is quite and it wears comfortably on my hand. Accuracy is acceptable for normal use, i think it is -15 +25. The price is very affordable and I think Orient watch is value for money.

Dear All Sifus,
My first watch was a battery operated Orient bought for me by my late father. At the time of my primary school about 30 years back, it was a real premium watch for me. I still keep it till today, but was badly tortured by my childhoood clumsiness. It was a very sentimental value piece to me, especially when my dad is no longer with me anymore.
I wished to ask where will we be able to see any display on Orient watches? I am in KL and it seems like this brand not many people are willing to carry. Thx. ;)
-
Go around Sg Wg there are many shops who carry this brand.
I once had an Orient with "open heart" and no problems with it at all. Does not handwind so gotta shake it and wear for a while until it starts to beat.
Just like Seiko's lower end mechanical, value for money.
-
Thanks for all your feedbacks...seems like Orient is a good buy (any reason is a good one when ur heart desires it to be) :Laughing_on_floor:
Please keep em coming...anyone had any good deals/connections with ADs selling Orient can also PM me
Cheers.

I hv an Orient Mako. PLUS-Good build quality, rated 20m,in-house auto movement for below RM500. It is rated as one of the top 10 "Affordables" in an international forum.
My only issue is that there are only a few of the Orient models that appeal to me as a watch lover. I feel that a lot of their models are too generic. At the price point however, can't complain too much.

Have you had a look at Orient Star or Royal Orient line?

I've yet to come across an AD which carry a "proper" line-up of the availale models in the Orient Star range, what more the Royal Orient (1st time hearing this name :P). Any suggestions for AD? I've only been to So*** Ti** at sg.wang having a "decent" range on display....
-
Yup that AD has the most range in Sg Wg i think.
Or you can try one shop in Central Market (There is only one), which has more selection and quite a few Orient Star models.
As for Royal Orient i only seen it online.

Something to poison you. :P

Takashi78, your poison is really a very venomous one!
Today's hunt at Sunway found a shop that carries Orient at quite a substantial collections, at lower ground 2 new wing. They carries Orient star too.
I have to admit that new generation Orient (from what I last seen) is really not bad at all!
-
Dont know if you like the style or not there is a Orient 60th anniv model i think. Handwind not too exp.
But classic design.
-
I think I want to restore my old friend Orient and maybe getting another brother for him ;D
-
hi everyone (newbies here) ....
I own 2 Orient ... Orient Mako (1) - orange face with rubber straps and Orient Classic Automatic Power Reserve - Black face with leather straps.
yes Lume is not a huha about ... far far away if to compare to BALL.
engine eta wise ... i would say the movement is good and smooth..... one thing about japanase is they build thier own engine and sell it to others...
if not mistaken "designer brand" i.e AD,BUM,GC is using orient automatic engine. and Jorg Gray using Orient digital engine.
price wise... most orient is affordable range of price.

Go to Pavillion Top Floor. There is a newly open Japan Street. Orient boutique is there. Good luck
-
Visited the Orient boutique. Quite a good range of Orients. For me , Orient is along side Seiko for being an underappreciated brand.

Yes, there is.
watchnewby, please refer below one of the winding watch from orient.
Orient celebrated its 60th Anniversary on 13th July 2010 and a “60th Anniversary” limited edition watch was released to commemorate the event. There are two variants of the watch, one with stainless steel case and another one with a gold(4 micron) plated case.
This watch is powered by the Orient 48N40 hand wind movement. It comes with power reserve indicator and stop second features. The movement beats at 21,600bph.
I managed to get one of this for my friend in "ebay".
-
If only that one has a display back it would be perfect.
