Title: Seiko Parts from Thong Sia
Post by: terrenceterrence on May 08, 2011, 03:58:30 PM
Thinking about getting some parts for my SKX.

Would Thong Sia let you buy just parts like dials and hands if you just walk in and quote the model number?

Feels like getting a khaki SNX431 dial for a desert diver mod.

Darn. When I first saw the title, I thought Seiko was "parting ways" with Thong Sia.  :Laughing_on_floor:

Yes, they do sell the parts but best to call them first as sometimes they don't hold stock. They will order it for you.

poll and vote time.

need help from all brother's here for their opinion. thinking of doing a "neo vintage GMT desert diver" after looking at this pic.

would like you guys to help me in choosing the dial and also a second hand for it. BTW does anyone knows if i am able to fit a monster crown on a SKX diver? find that the SKX crown is hard to turn because the grooves are too shallow.

I think the milspec and the tribox silver fits with your choice of hour and minute hand.
the others dont really fit IMHO.

Well the break down of the parts and cost from Yobokies and Fuller are as follows:
(mods, hope it's okay since the prices are on the sites)

1. Domed Sapphire (optional) = USD 43
2. S/S GMT Bezel Insert        =       31
3. Brushed Chapter Ring        =       15
4. Sterile Dial                      =       27 (still deciding on seiko or sterile)
5. Leaf Hands (set of 3)        =      15
6. Second hands (set of 3)    =      15

I prefer the sterile dial. Less cluttered.
