Am comtemplating to purchase a rolex explorer II from a fren ... but was adviced by another fren about the launch of the new 42 mm explorer ... what you guys think .. will the value of used explorer II drop alot after the launch of the new explorer II ? thx for any input ...

Hard to say about the prices. Have you seen the new Explorer II? You can see on the Rolex website. Some people like the new hands some people don't. The important question is which version sings to you.
Not sure when it will hit the stores but am sure early prices will be high. Once the initial demand is over the price will stabilise. Based on past experience, the price of the out going model tends to go up as the stock dries up and stabilise.

for ease of visual to the new rolex explorer II .. offical web site link

Actually i do like new design of the hands .... broader reminding me of omega broad arrow somewhat .. (i really love the Omega Broad arrow 1957 ... fantastic looking watch with the neon blue numerial and hands .. retailing S$8250.00 with xxx% discount .. wow wow wow ... currently no stock) ... i prefer orange over red anyway ... guess this is gonna love or hate thingy ......
I expect the price of the new one to be between 8 K plus Sing ? ... i would buy a dssd .... :HammerHead:

The look of the new Explorer II is a 'mix' of the vintage Explorer II and old Explorer II.
The new Explorer II.

In Taiwan, the prices of pre-loved Explorer II has gone up slightly.

lol ... guess i m a old school guy .. .thx for the pic bro ...
-
New or old also it is a rolex. Either way, price of the watch would not crash. The only thing i am a bit stuck at the moment is black or white? White seems to be the signature color for the vintage explorer II but i am more of a black dial guy. Guess i might try something new and get the white one.
-
buy the new one....i believe the price of current version will drop instead of rising
-
seems to be alot of members here going after an EXP2 lately and I am one of them too... :Laughing_on_floor:
hopefully a b-day prezzie for myself this year.

If I may stick my nose in a little. What's the diff between the Explorer II and the GMT II? Both seem to offer a secondary hand for a second time zone ??? Aside from the design, of course.

Rotating bezel on the GMT II. So technically it can tell 3 time zone? Steel bezel vs. Ceramic.

@TheHobbit: Ah, nice. I like the design of the GMT II, hehe. Thanks again!

meaning Explorer II is a `GMT' for 2 time zone and the GMT II is 3 time zone?

I suspect that is the price with premium if you want to be one of the first to have the watch. It was the same with the GMT IIc when it first came out. Wait a couple of months.
-
just have to wait a few months +- 6 months. Price will stabilise by then. I remember when the DSSD was first launched, there was a frenzy and the first batch sold at around RM38k. The question is that does the feeling of being the first few to own the watch justify and make up the extra premium you need to pay?

I am partial towards the GMT II as well.

If you ask me, I would say buy... if u dowan to buy, recommend ur fren to me coz I'm buying... ;D
-
true ... patient n you will get a better bargain ... i still think like our bro .. with that kind of price .. abit more can buy a more unique watch ....
-
last time when lolex release milgauss gu. The price was retarded too. Around 30++ k ringgit.
-
really like the new ExpII with 42mm. I do like the older one..but with my wrist size 8inch... :HammerHead:

hahaha ... okok ....
-
the new Exp2 price most probably will go down in due time but that is not alwiz true. If rolex decides to limit its production and the demand is consistent, the price will only go up
-
IMO for 25k i think i will go for the Green Hulk.... if u really want to buy then you hav to wait a couple of months for it to stabilise.....
-
buy...both
-
historically, exp2 was cheaper than sub
-
i just check with the ad today, according to him the lp is RM18k plus only.
-
I doubt its gonna be 18k only. 20k even.
-
i also seriously doubt it is 18k .... :Blue:
-
they will whack the listprice at rm22800-23800 (my prediction, based on guts, no source)
-
No need base on guess, looking at the Sub-C prices easy to guess the new Exp2 would be around the same price.
Somemore new movt. 22k-24k list price is my guess.
-
speaking of new mvmt, what are the new features compared to the old mvmt?
-

Milgauss preowned piece is about RM 16.8k nowadays.
