Ho Ho Ho
billion dollar question !!!

I will say no
then hoping that u sell
then get some1 to buy it at low

sorry- just joking
buy n wear to enjoy the watch better than thinking whether the watch will appreciate everyday
rolex price will appreciate every yr but not as gd compare with property (generally in msia)and gold
but u can only stay at one house (some may not agree I know but I only hv one wife n never thought of having another) and u can't wear the gold bar
so?

"I wear rolek leh..."

Njoy this will do

What does "worth" mean to you?

well, he bought it last time thinking of like invest in share or gold, wait for some good yrs, then value will appreciate, then sometime back, I share with him about my collection of watch, so he think I am the expert  :Laughing_on_floor:. So buzz me ask my opinion, I told him I will help him ask around and let him know.

So worth it, mean he continue to keep in the safe or sell it now and buy another watch that he will continue keep in the safe... :Laughing_on_floor:

The amount of RM spent on the same watch (provided it's still in production) 5 years down the road will of course be more than what your uncle spent in the 90s.
But that is inflation and not the value appreciated.
Even when you wanna sell, most buyers will still trace the serial number to the year of production and offer accordingly.
I agree that in investment terms, Gold and Property is still the best.
If the watch is of sentimental value to your uncle, I would suggest he keep it.
But that's just me.

how much appreciation is ur uncle looking at?

even if it appreciates 100% from his original price, he would not be able to buy back the same brand new model for the price he sells today.

you could never earn much from a DJ..all you can earn is getting to wear it for free if you decide to sell it.

I believe thats a 16013. If you check around on a local website, you could roughly know their value. And remember thats a sales price. If you sell it to a dealer, thats another story.

For a watch like rolex, my 2 cents advise is to keep, unless you're in need of urgent cash flow.

Don't keep, rotate and wear your watches

Thanks for the advise, I think will ask him to keep for his son or pass it down to his descendant  :Dancing_banana:

I think you are better off keeping and wearing it unless you cannot afford to pay around RM1,200 ringgit to overhaul it in RSC once every 5 years. Two tone watches are not in style but if you do keep it for a few more years, it might be vogue again to wear two tone watches (Rolexsor). In other words, if you sell it now, you might not get a good price for it.

Also, if you decide to sell it, make sure that you ask your uncle for all the service certificates (most importantly the latest one) that RSC (Rolex Service Center) provides each time you sent it in for service. This will give you a much better resale value as opposed to it being serviced by 3rd party watch repairers. RSC is known for doing minor alterations to your rolexes for it to be on par with newer models when it is sent in for service. My 9 year old Datejust is found to be equipped with the new parachrom blu hairspring and new larger font date wheel from my last service (3 years ago).

But, I advise you to just keep the watch and wear it as I cannot imagine selling my rolex. :)

Haha, I did advise my uncle to wear/ keep instead of selling over the weekend. He told me if that is the case, he will continue keep the watch in the Safe. I asked why you dont want to wear it for daily, he replied worry of robber chop his hand if got rob 1 day... :Laughing_on_floor:

Ask your uncle to put the watch on a brown strap. Not so blinks in this setup, hence less attraction..
