if we talk about RRP vs RRP (and not considering GST refund etc), i think malaysia would be cheaper than singapore, what with our NO tax for watches and the super strong SGD currency at the moment (2.4+).
but i think SG ADs are very aggressive with their discount structure, therefore after including that and GST refund, singapore sometimes works out a bit cheaper (esp for the hot brands).

Malaysia has the cheapest price - I'm comparing against Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Paris (with prices converted to RM, as of last year). In Paris for example, the price incl tax of most watches are equivalent to the ones in KL if they are on sale. Else, they are about 15-20% more if I remember correctly. I talked to a few dealers in Paris, and they said tourists prefer to buy watches from Asia, and some dealers in KL/Singapore said Europeans prefer to buy from Asia as well.
Oh - I compared the price after expecting at least xx% discounts from dealers here.

After comparing prices from the same AD in Singapore and Malaysia for my Omega, it is cheaper in Malaysia.

Have to say it is brand dependent. G-Shocks are cheaper here in Taiwan, as are Seiko (added bonus of being made in Japan).

European buys watches in Asia because of the VAT rebates.
Asians buys watches in Europe because of the same VAT rebates.
As an Asian... I find that nowhere in Asia offers the same deal for buying new watches than Europe after VAT rebates. I might be wrong though. Just my 2 sen.

Well, I must say depend on the brand, some are cheaper in Malaysia compare to SG, just need to focus on the one you like and check the price around, cause we always want discounted price...

Malaysia is the Cheapest, I compare to Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Dubai, Germany, Netherlands etc. I do hope it stay this way

MRSP or post VAT rebates?
Non Euro residents buying from EURO countries are still the cheapest post VAT.

which brand you have done the research???

Rolex.. Panerai...Sinn and even pre-owned prices in Japan is cheaper than over here

I was in Singapore a couple of months back.
After convert, I think Malaysia and Singapore are quite comparable for the Japanese watches, with Malaysia only slightly cheaper.

Having traveled to many countries, I still believe M'sia is cheaper when you factor in the AD disc. VAT varies from 14 to 20% but one will never recoup the full value of the VAT after deducting admin and bank charges when filing for tax refund. The best option is at airports duty free where the full VAT is accounted for. Then again M'sia ADs offer more disc than most VAT except for sought after models. I know for sure Rollies are cheaper in Dutch and German airports. Only setback is now the Euro has crept up from a low of 3.86 to 4.33 now. BTW noticed a few Omegas on sale in Schipol last time I passed thru. Had to hurry coz transit too short as got diverted at Rollie shop. ;D

i think hong kong is cheaper bcos many distributor here get stock from there.

I am inclined to agree with nayo. I think Malaysia is cheaper. Especially with unfavorable exchange rate with as well now.
However I'm guessing that there are certain models that may be cheaper in certain countries.
My 2 sen

Well if your going to a country to buy watches, i suggest u go to UK or South African. I personally graduated from UK and with the currency at 5:1 and able to claim VAT TAX, its a no brainer thats its gonna be cheaper there than anywhere else. Prices remains the same but current falls to your favour. Get to know someone there!!
CHeers..

Not sure where is cheaper, but with the Singapore boutique opening soon, well I guess selection could be better in Singapore.

I believe it will depend on the brand. When i was in Switzerland during CNY this year, I got a Tissot watch from shop in Zurich (net: RM1k). There is no discounting but you can claim VAT. A few months later, I saw the same watch on sale in a AD in Mid Valley and it was going for RM1,750. Although I didn't ask about discount, I doubt you can get more than 30% anyway. The watch in question:

How come Malaysia, being duty free for watches, retail price still unable to match that? ::)
no thanks to our weak currency.

this is a RM1 million question. only the master importer can answer this. honestly, i believe prices are set at the whim and fancy of the franchise holder in each country (a factor of greediness). this is why the will always be a "gray" market everything on the face of this earth, including watches!

For japanese make, try hkg or taiwan... Blxxding cheap, price tag before discount already cheaper than here after discount.
Swiss make depends on brand, some taiwan cheaper, some hkg. Preowned rollies, singapore or hkg is cheaper than everywhere else.
