Hi All,
After a long hiatus from watches, the bug finally bit me again and I am back looking to pick up a Seiko with SD movement (Preloved). Can I ask the sifus here if SD watches can be serviced by Seiko Malaysia or does it have to be sent back to Japan?
What is the rough cost of a service? Since I am buying preloved, I would assume that I would need to service the watch sometime soon. Have only ever had experience with Rolex service which is buttery smooth. Thanks !

All SD GS have to be serviced in Japan. It is going to be expensive but I don’t know how much because I have never send mine for service before. You can contact seiko service center to get a rough idea of the cost.

Thanks sshark. Can I ask how old your SD is? The piece I am looking at is probably going to be 7-8 years old already (Am considering a non-GS SD model from the early Marinemaster or Landmaster line).

My SD is more than 10 years old. All the SDs have the same accuracies regardless it is from the GS or prospex line. I’m not referring to the later ones with 5days PR, higher accuracy, or manual winding

More than 10years old and never been serviced. Is it still running within spec? Fantastic testament to SD movement if it is!
