Have any of you seen any Omegas in the wild lately?
I saw one for the first time that is not on my wife's or my wrist. It was yesterday morning, that I saw a client of mine walked in for our meeting wearing a black bezel Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean. After a few minutes into the meeting, while we're grabbing some coffee, I mentioned casually about his PO and he went on to tell me that he bought his PO 2 years ago but he's not much of a watch collector. He basically bought it to reward himself after a tough year at work. :) Then, he commented about my speedy pro and how at first, he thought of buying the Speedy Pro but stopped himself after he heard that he can't swim in it. :) That's when I told him that was the main reason why I collect watches - a watch for every season and occasion. :) He laughed and we continued on our discussion after that.
I find it pretty rare to find an Omega in the wild here in Malaysia. Rolexes and Panerai's are a more common sighting and so are lower end watches like Ball, Oris and Tissot. Omega's are just, well, quite elusive when it comes to being in the public eye.
Any sightings lately? Care to share? :)

In KK... I think the most common sightings are Seikos... ;D
If you're talking bout higher end ones... Rolexes.
Very seldom will I see Omegas or Pams or anything.
I guess if non WIS buy watches, they will either go for affordable Seikos or go the whole way Rolexes...
There is no in-between...

Maybe you not looking hard enough?
I see Omega all the time when in shopping malls.

Pretty common here in Taiwan, together with Panerai, Seiko, Rolex and G-Shocks.

go to China. it's more common there albeit being the constellation and not the sports models.
also more common on gwai lo's wrist than us non-Chinese national wrist IMHO. i think it's either a sports model e.g. german, italian or all out for Rolex for the sub SGD10k category

When I said Omegas in the wild, what I meant was non-WIS (ie. non MWF members) wearing Omegas. (please see original post). :)

Now that you mention it the only wildlife one manages to catch a glimpse of now and again would be either a PAM or Ball. Only this morning I was seated next to some random dude at KL Central who was sporting what I think was a Luminor Chrono.

On meetings I c em every now n then.. but Omega has the "anyone could buy one" on it... (Im saying this as a huge fan of Omega) but rolex have more of the "ive got money" status and everyone got em so you will c them. Must say I dont c much VC, JLC, IWC,panerai, or PP when out walking (on the gtg i got play with a couple but thats crazy ppl us :) ) Esp hope the vintage watches starts to become cool (and i dont mean the super expencive ones) piepan the old seamasters and the one and only speedmaster pro 321
